i've been going to rogers rock for 78 years, and yes it is going downhill in so many ways. it is dirty. there r crowds of people who r different now, and they just don't care about they affect other people. i just don't feel relaxed and happy anymore there. and twice i saw a snake at the ramp area, last year a HUGE one. some campers\boaters saw it and walked it off to somewhere along the shore. lake george is the only lake i would ever swim in, but now i can't feel happy and safe in the water. it's all those big rocks they piled on both sides of the ramp, when they re-did the whole area years ago. BAD idea. i have my reservations set for this year, as i always do, but now i'm too afraid to go in the water. snakes swim. i'll probably have to cancel. and no one patrols anymore, because no one wants to work there, because wages r so low. everything is out of hand.

Maintain the bathrooms and restrict public access to Association A&B. I was just there, our family spent a very large amount of money on these two family sites and much to our surprise, it’s a public access ‘trail’. It’s not marked in any way. This ‘trail’ is between the gravel fire pit/driveway/tent area and the lake, maybe 15ft wide x 6 tent spaces long, hardly a trail other than for whoever rented a tent space in this family, private site. Or so you would think. Then supposedly there’s a public access boat launch right there? I didn’t see it, luckily nobody tried to launch any boat. However, an older couple came barging into our site demanding access to this so called ‘trail’ that we had no knowledge of. Cars came driving down into the campsite just to check it out. We had kids riding bikes around. Never again. Do you know how much money they charge for those two sites? To have filthy water logged bathrooms and people trampling through your campsite? Heck no!

We are avid campers, and we booked a year in advance to secure multiple neighboring sites here. When the pandemic hit, our kids frequently asked if our annual big camping trip would push through. So glad that we were able to go!
Rogers Rock was recommended by my brother and his fiancee. Everything they raved about was true. It's a beautiful campground! We all enjoyed fishing, swimming, kayaking, lounging, and rafting at the lake. We did hiking. Didn't get to cliff jump, but we'll save that for next time. Although not waterfront, our sites were pretty close to the water; but to get to the actual beach area, we had to drive. Since the campground just reopened and I wasn't too keen on using the shared facilities, 'brought a shower tent which was very useful. Kids and I mostly took our showers there (solar shower bags came in handy and I just boiled water to put in the cold water when we ran out). 'placed the portable potty there at night. Family members who used the campground's public showers said it was just ok; some stalls didn't have a working shower or were dirty. They were limited to the middle shower stall. Restrooms were generally clean.
If you ever forgot to bring something, Walmart is about 10 mins away. 'drove to Lake George Village (about 45 mins from camp) one day for a quick outing.
Amazing views!!! Nature at its best. Chirping birds all around, sometimes they get too loud. *lol All in all, very relaxing vacation with family and friends. We'd love to go back next year.

This campground has been our hands-down favorite for years, but bathrooms are not maintained well any more - both bathhouses had more showers out of order than working. Bathrooms are cleaned less frequently. Sites are not cleaned up as well as they used to be. It’s a shame that attention and care is missing. Oddly enough, I also noted fewer birds (owls and lions) and squirrels and chipmunks. Not sure why. Still a gorgeous place to enjoy nature.

We always have a fabulous time at Rogers Rock. I come with my family, my brothers and sisters and their broods. We all get neighboring campsites and enjoy the quietness of the woods. Sometimes the bathrooms get a little crazy but when you bring it to the attention of the workers, it's rectified pretty quickly. Definitely recommend.

AMAZING! Even a 44 year old dad was able to get up his courage to make the 10-15 foot jump. Watch out though....big time horseflies/bugs at top. Helps expedite your departure from above!! ENJOY!

The views are stunning once you reach the summit. The trails are not clearly marked and there is no indication of how long nor how difficult the paths are. Not for novices. The wild blueberries are delicious!

Rogers Rock adds another bit of interest to this beautiful and historic lake. With Fort William Henry at her feet, Fort Ticonderoga as her crown, the Queen offers beauty and history, including this scenic cliff at which the 1758 Battle on Snowshoes took place, during the French and Indian Wars. It is said that Rogers the Ranger left his mark sliding down the rock face to escape encroaching French soldiers. The NY State Department of Environmental Conservation thinks enough of this rock to maintain the area as a campground.

I recall camping here in the 80's and remembering a pristine place that was clean and private.
The sites still provide some privacy, but some areas are beginning to feel like "parking lot" campsites. I camp in a tent, so I like to feel like I'm out among the trees. Some of the limits of campers per site were not heeded and it felt like the extended families were visiting for the weekend.
The bathrooms were filled with spider webs and bugs. They didn't appear to be tended to. The showers were disgusting (women's). Timing the shower with the cleaning staff didn't make a difference. There are no trash cans in the showers, so there were tampon wrappers and a feminine napkin ON THE WALL. I know the staff can't control what campers do, but monitoring the cleanliness would go much farther in impressions. I brought someone there for the first time, just to share my love of RR, but the shower experience left an impression.
There are so many campgrounds that are better than Rogers Rock, so I would suggest looking elsewhere.
