It was great to see so much from the 2 Olympics held here. You can see the hockey rinks from both decades. Very interesting!!! They also have a lot of Olympic memorbilia from many other Olympics across the world.

Le nouveau musée viens d’être lancé (déc. 2022), et est très bien. Nous avons apprécié cette exposition assez complète des olympiques dans ce secteur.

This museum highlights the two Olympics held in Lake Placid. If you are a fan of the winter Olympics, this is a great way to spend a couple hours. Probably not very interesting for kids (ours were off hiking, so just my wife and I). We have some memories of "the Miracle on Ice" when USA won the gold in Hockey, which happened in that building. There is a little video thing of a bobsled run, and a video of going off a ski jump (which actually caused my stomach to feel a little strange). And there is a little video of the miracle on ice, the rest are static displays. Olympic torches, pins, metals, costumes/ uniforms, athletes... There was some kind of dance/ ice skating competition going on when we were there, which was a paid admission event, so the nice woman taking those tickets was letting folks in to see the ice rink, just for a minute or two, just from the entrance (since we had not paid to see the competition). It was worth it for us, but visit would have been much shorter if we had our two, under 20 year old kids with us. Just more interesting if you have some memory of the last Olympics held there, or a general interest in the winter Olympics.

This place is worth the price of admission ($12.00 for seniors). The displays are lovely and the history about the two winter Olympic competitions held in this beautiful setting.

While on vacation in Lake Placid we thought the Olympic Museum would be a natural choice. $54 for two adults and two older teens, but yet there wasn't enough to keep us in there for a whole hour. Only a couple interactive displays. Not sure why the ski jump interactive is done by looking through a hole while standing on a box? It was great seeing all the medals and torches, but they were just reproductions. There was some event worn uniforms and equipment, but there should have been rooms full of it. Many of the displays were reproductions of photographs. Imagine going to an art museum and there are photos of the art? This museum is a missed opportunity for a thoroughly interactive experience. Each of the major events should have a room full of event used equipment and uniforms with interactive exhibits. For example, I want to see Mike Eruzione's actual game winning puck and equipment not the players Olympic ID badges. In my opinion it is not really on the appropriate level given the location and cost of admission.

Ignore low reviews that pertain to the old museum which wasn’t much to look at. This is the much improved, newly renovated and expanded Olympic Museum in Lake Placid, host city of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games.
From the vast collection of medals and handheld Olympic torches of past games to the immersive experience in various events and the Miracle on Ice, this museum has much to offer in a relatively modest space. You’ll find one of the goals used in the Miracle hockey game with American Jim Craig’s goalie equipment, the ID badges used by each hockey member, and a thrilling video in case you don’t know the Miracle story.
Pro tip: The main museum entrance faces the Olympic oval (rollerblading in the summer, ice skating in the winter). But it’s preferable to reach the museum via the 1932 entrance by following the signs as you’ll walk past (and inside) both the 1932 arena and the 1980 arena. The 1932 facility - now named for American speed skater Jack Shea who won double gold in 1932 - hosted the first indoor skating events in Olympic history. The 1980 facility - now named for Herb Brooks who coached the American hockey team in 1980 - featured the Miracle on Ice with the 4-3 U.S. upset over the U.S.S.R. and also held the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies.
Once entering the museum and reviewing the information in the main hall, make a left first to explore a virtual experience in bobsledding, skating, and ski jumping. Then head back to the right side where the largest room is to be found and where the museum concludes in the gift shop.

Paid $42 for 2 adults and a 7 year old. We were in the museum for 10 min. It is small. There are not enough exhibits to justify the cost. Some old hockey and figure skating stuff, olympic medals from years past, olympic team outfits and a goal from 1980 games. The two “interactive” exhibits are a ski jump movie you watch through a hole in the wall will standing on a box and bobsled that is bolted to the floor while a movie plays on a screen. That’s it.
Suggestion: have a hockey display that aallows people to shoot for accuracy and measures speed ( maybe like one of those interactive video golf contraptions).
Do a side by side comparison of hockey skates, figure skates and speed skates. Talk about why each is designed the way it is.
Do a video of 3 olympians in hockey, figure and speed. Have all 3 try each others sport ( funny and educational).
There is SO much potential to make this museum better.

Great museum detailing the winter Olympics that were held in Lake Placid in 1932 and 1980. Most of the museum deals with the 1980 Olympics and the miracle on ice. The museum is a little small but very good.

An ORDA pass is the passport that allows you to get into multiple Olympic sites rather than pay per location. ORDA is the Olympic regional development authority and is responsible for the venues. Not sure where your term came from, but I think I know what you meant.

My team will be playing in a tournament in a few weeks. One of my concerns is around parking. Is there any free parking space to access the arena? if not, how much most the parking in the lot nearby? any indications would be appreciated...

We parked in the lot next to the museum and it was free when we were there. Some places on the street are pay as you go, so be sure to check when you park.
