The location itself is quite beautiful and it was inexpensive to rent a tent spot, but the bathrooms are the dirtiest I've ever seen at a New York State (and that is saying a lot). So, the good thing is that it is a very pretty location and almost all the camp sites are very close to the water. It is also an inexpensive getaway. That is where my positive review ends. We had a camp site that supposedly fit 6, but it was at least 50% rock. We struggled with getting our tents staked and in a suitable location. The grassy area was so close to the road we were worried about getting hit, so we ended up using our car as a barrade and chose to put our tent on the rocks instead. The bathrooms were a complete disaster. The one closest to us didn't have showers even though it said it did (doors were marked as out of order the entire time we were there). The ladies room had three stall but only two had doors. It seemed like everyone was trying to use the set of bathrooms toward the middle of the park, but there were so many people camping and so few bathrooms that you'd have to wander around looking for an open bathroom and then wait in line and then find out if there was toilet paper (spoiler: there wasn't). I never did get a shower, which when I'm tent camping I get I'm not at the Ritz, but I do expect there to be a functional shower. I never did see park staff to ask them where I could find a bathroom with a shower AND toilet paper. The camp sites are also very, very close together. This was by far the closest we've been to our neighbors and we've camped at at least two dozen places around New York State.
My advice: There are lots of other state parks around there. Unless you don't care about having neighbors on top of you and you feel like bathrooms are optional, you might want to consider passing this one by.

This park is not a cookie cutter parking lot! It is rustic. There are limited electric sites and some sites are tent only because there is now way to get even a small trailer on the stite. There is water all around with the River on one side and Goose Bay on the other. The area is great for kayaking, fishing, boating, swimming and ship watching. The staff is great! They have a small staff to cover a lot of ground, mowing, weed wacking, and over 100 sites to maintain. If your site is in need of mowing or weed wacking you can call the gate house and ask if anyone is available to come. Not always but sometimes they can come right then before you set up. The ladies in the gate house are awesome! There is a small general store before you get into the park. Other grocery stores are withing 10 miles. As a long time camper at KP, myself and others try to keep the park clean and safe by doing our part. For the most part it is not a big party park although holiday weekends can get louder. The park fills up fast 9 months in advance however there are plenty of really nice non-water front sites and the old beach and the point are great places to swim or float. Morgan Island is part of the park and a great place to walk around, fish, picnic or swim! Lots of good kindling there on the ground too so bring a bag!

We stayed in in our Airstream...only site left was 37...after finally getting level which is a bit tricky as the park is rocky...which is part of what makes it beautiful...we had a wonderful 5 day stay here...clean bathrooms...and very kind staff.

I was kicked off a large campsite that was actually mine. i had tent camped there for 2 days with no problems and within 15 yds of the site marker. On the 3rd day I found a ranger moving my small tent, because a party next door arrived and demand my tent space. The park ranger claimed I was on their site but there are no clear boundaries on their park map or the sites. I suspect the ranger was willing to inconvenience me because I was one person versus several. Any 15 yard circle around a site marker should be considered part of that site, since the sites are big. I ended up moving my tiny tent near to the road, which was unsafe as cars could possibly run me over. Avoid Kring Point State Park park if you expect top be treated safely or fairly!

Just got back from spending M-F in a cabin (#2) at Kring Point. The cabins are mostly right on Goose Bay. They are about 20x20, split into two rooms. Two bunk beds, a chair and dresser in the back room. Front room has a window on the bay, fridge, 4x4 table, 5 chairs, a counter and a microwave. Cabins 1&2 are recently remodeled, but it appears to be mainly the addition of paneling. Cabins 7&8 have bathrooms, running water and a stove, but they are up on a hill, and further from the water. Bathrooms are super; non-communal - bath house has 6 separate bathrooms, each tiled with a toilet, sink and shower. Beautiful park with rocky terrain with a short walk between the bay and the St. Lawrence River. Campsites are fairly well separated, if that's what you like (look at the map before choosing a site). Small store outside the park, which is a bit expensive, but for good reason, apparently. Alexandria Bay is about 9 miles away, with grocery store, gasoline, liquor store, some restaurants, but not a lot more. I highly recommend Kring Point, but please don't advertise it!

We spent 2 nights here dry camping with an RV. The bathrooms were very nice and we loved having a dishwashing station as well. The views from our campground provided sunrise and sunset views which were lovely. They even pick up your trash at your site! The park was fun to explore with the water areas, boulders and even a little island you can reach by a bridge. This was a nice quiet park and a great place to stay and visit Boldt Castle from.

This campground was great. Most campsites were on the water or in sight of the water. There were tons of spots to put your kayak in and nooks to fish in. Watched several large freighters pass buy. Kayaked around three mini islands. Bathrooms were decent, the one nearest the entrance definitely the best one. Most camp sites decent sized but could see where a couple would be cramped on the end. Super quiet in late September.

Very nice place to camp and enjoy the outdoors. Thousands islands is a wonderful place of beauty and recreation. Have your coffee overlooking the st Lawrence river and listening to the loons. The bathrooms need an update but were adequately clean, didn’t really come here for that anyway.

We always make one weeklong camping trip to the 1000 Islands every Summer but were unable to get into “our spot” at Wellesley Island this year. Luckily I came upon an available site at Kring Point and I booked it. I have a BIG RV so I was apprehensive. No worries.. The park is smaller with most sites for tenting or pop up campers. That said, there are many sites where you could squeeze in a travel trailer with no problems. Some sites are electric and some have no power. Like I said, we lucked-out and got a site right on the water for our full 8 days. There was a fantastic view overlooking the river and main shipping channel (love watching freighters !) and a Dock for the kids to fish off and swim off of. Plenty of area to bike , hike and walk. Clear water to swim in. Some of the rest rooms (the older ones) were dirty but the ones closer to the entrance were newer and clean. This place even came by many times throughout the day to pick up all your garbage !!! Just outside the campground is the little Kring Point Grocery Store that had ANYTHING you might need for very generous prices. Everyone in our party of 12raved about the soft serve ice cream ! Alex Bay is about a 10 minute ride back South for you tourists. Couldn’t have enjoyed my stay more and this place will be our new “go-to” place in the Islands.

If you like camping on a rock, this place if for you. We stayed on site 59. It is a very small site. I wouldn't camp there on sites 59 or 60. No driveway, so you have to carry your stuff.

Hi Valerie, thank-you. My wife and I (Canadian and Puerto Rica/North Dokatan) moved a couple of years ago to Ithaca NY . wife took over international program at Cornell.
We are new to NY and are gearing up to add camping to our "fun" stuff this summer and fall. Saw your Post on Krill. Valerie, do you have any other good suggestions of parks to visit. We have kayaks and bikes. Thanks heaps.
