Conjunto escultórico realizado en bronce y granito que homenajea y reconoce a los ciudadanos de toda clase que lucharon en la Batalla de puente Sampayo. Es de principios de siglo XX y tiene un gran valor artístico.

Es una pena que este monumento erigido en honor a los héroes desconocidos de Ponte Sampaio (guerra independencia contra las tropas francesas) esté totalmente desubicado y con una clara falta de integración entre la Plaza de España, los jardines y la alameda.

The Monument to the Heroes of Puente Sampayo is located in the Plaza de Espana in front of Pontevedra City Hall. It pays tribute to the combatants at the Battle of Puente Sampayo, which faced the Spanish and French troops in this town between June 7 and 9, 1809, as part of the War of Independence. The work consists of several bronze figures placed on a granite plinth, reconstructing the last moments of the war. The monument was unveiled on August 27, 1911. It was created by the sculptor Oventense Julio Gonzalez Pola.

Esta monumental obra se encuentra en la Plaza de España y rinde homenaje a los combatientes en la batalla de Puente Sampayo, que enfrentó a las tropas españolas y francesas en dicha localidad, entre el 7 y el 9 de junio de 1809, en el marco de la Guerra de la Independencia, saldándose con la derrota de las tropas napoleónicas y su definitiva retirada de Galicia. El monumento que recuerda este hecho fue inaugurado el 27 de agosto de 1911, obra del escultor ovetense Julio González Pola, realizado en bronce, sobre un soporte de granito. Representa un grupo de labradores, estudiantes y soldados portando una bandera, al frente de los cuales marcha el coronel Pablo Morillo, que fue el responsable de organizar el ejército que se enfrentó a las tropas francesas, derrotándolas y expulsándolas definitivamente de territorio gallego.

Una Monumento junto muy cercano a Edificios Públicos, y el mar. Interesante. Situado en un paseo que es recomendable para disfrutar de unas vistas al mar y edificios antiguos.

Este monumento é uma homenagem aos heróis de guerra e fica mesmo em frente à Câmara Municipal, na entrada de um pequeno jardim. Não é de visita obrigatória mas fica de passagem, podendo tirar uma ou outra foto boa devido ao enquadramento com o jardim.

Groot monument dat de herinnering levend houdt aan de oorlog begin 19 e eeuw tussen het Spaanse leger en de Gallische onafhankelijken. Opvallende en wrede sculpturen met veel details.

Zufällig entdeckten wir die sehr originell wirkende Figurenskulptur am Straßenrand, zwar kein Highlight, aber angenehm fürs Auge.

モニュメントは、エスパーニャ広場にあります。巡礼で通ってきた、サンパイオ橋の会戦は、スペイン正規軍・ガリシア人民軍の連合軍と、ミシェル・ネイ元帥率いるフランス軍との戦闘です。スペイン独立戦争のひとつとして1809年6月7日～9日にかけて、発生し戦いました。ガリシア抵抗軍は、ネイ元帥軍の渡河を阻止し、ネイ軍は退却を強いられた。この戦いにより、フランス軍は、5か月間の占領後、ガリシアからの退却を迫られました。ガリシアをナポレオン支配下に鎮圧し、隷属させる使命を持っていた、ネイ元帥指揮下のフランス第6軍は、この戦闘により、完全に敗退してしまった。その記念として大きなモニュメントが建てられました。

Imposing war memorial located at the far end of Parque de las Palmeras. Larger than life bronze, although seems somewhat forgotten tucked away at this end of the park. Views overlooking lower part of the city are nice from the rear of the monument.
