The tour was good to see local landmarks and learn a little more about them. Crewe were knowledgeable and helpful. We did get to see some fish eg red snapper, but nature being nature no larger varieties

Great to hear you enjoyed our team, their pretty great ;) The Red Snapper are also the biggest variety of fish we will see in the marine reserve as they are protected anything else we see is just luck!!

Our captain and her assistant did an outstanding job both telling us about what we were seeing and keeping us safe. Caitie and Aliza make a great team and we can highly recommend them. We were lucky that it was a beautiful day and we saw lots of amazing fish. We hope we make it back to Northern New Zealand again some day.

What a great experience we had with a fun and knowledgeable crew - Brian and Riannon. Felt safe the whole time, learnt a lot about the area and got to see the beautiful fish in the marine reserve. Stunning vistas, beaches and rock formations. I wasn't brave enough to swim but others did on our boat. Looked amazing. Ever since I was a kid fishing I wanted to see what the fish were doing under the water and on the glass bottom boat you can see everything very clearly. And then when it was time to motor back the boat went like a dream with two 150 hp outboard engines providing the power.
Definitely recommend the experience :-)

Awesome trip to see the marine reserve and gorgeous beaches including Cathedral Cove. Caitie and Amber were our tour crew who were very informative. We loved the glass bottom boat which enabled to see the sea bed and beautiful coloured fish. Thoroughly recommend!

Today me and my family went on the glass bottom, we had the most amazing time with our lovely, friendly workers, Caitie and Xanthe, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a boat trip to cathedral cove and the snorkelling at the end was the best part! I do wish we could've gotten out of the boat at cathedral cove but I understand this might not be possible! Thank you Caitie and Xanthe for the excellent experience!

We had a wonderful few hours in the company of a great crew. Friendly and very knowledgeable about the place and wildlife. Certainly a must on any visit to Mercury Bay, it was the best way to see Cathedral Cove. The glass bottom was so good to enable us to see the fish and seabed. We got to see some seals too but no dolphins (not really expected). The snorkelling at the end was the best bit for me as we got to get close up to the fish in such clear water.
The trip was worth it just for the swim with the fish!

Excellent trip. Small boat so was not overload with people. Very informative crew. Seeing the fish from the glass bottom was great.

We had an amazing time with our hosts Olivia and Micheal. They were super friendly and very knowledgeable. The ride was exciting and the amount of fish seen whilst in the boat was incredible! We had my in-laws with us who are 75+ and they thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Well worth the trip !

Spring weather can be a bit unpredictable, but it is starting to warm and as long as conditions are good we will be on the water. If we do have to cancel due to the conditions, we won't take our customers out if it wont be enjoyable, we will refund you in Full. I hope this helped.

Our trip is 2 hrs long. sometimes due to weather conditions it can be 1.5hrs to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable, the price is adjusted accordingly.

Hi.
November is a nice month as its starting to warm up. At the moment we are getting all 4 seasons in a day so just be prepared for that just in case.
There are other great family activities in and around Whitianga. The Glass Bottom Boat is a fantastic choice for a water activity. Then there is Fun Zone, Waterworks, Whiti Farm Park, Driving Creek Railway plus all the beaches to visit. there are some great park areas around with Cafes opposite so the kids can run around. I hope this helps.

Hi there! My little sister is coming over from Aussie in early October and I am wondering what the likelihood of seeing Orcas at this time of year on the tour is? She is Orca obsessed and I am hoping to fulfill her dream while also crossing off my bucket list wish of a glass bottom boat tour in the coromandel! Thanks 😊

Thank you for your message. We see orca quite a few times throughout the year however there is no particular time to see them. They tend to come and go as they please. Lets just cross our fingers and our toes and pray to the orca gods. Thank you for your question. Yes the water is a refreshing high teen to low twenties in December. If you are not a fan on this temperature water you are welcome to bring a wetsuit. We do find that is can be refreshing when you first jump in then you body does adjust quite quickly, especially if the sun is out. The snorkelling part of the tour is about 15 mins so you are not in the water for ages if this helps with the decision to bring a wetsuit. Hope this helps. Hello, Me and my wife are planning to stay in Whitianga for 2 nights. we are planning to do the glass bottom boat tour. But will we get a chance to get off the boat at the Cathedral Cove or we have to come by foot to do that? also if we plan to do a beach walk to Cathedral Cove do we need to do the boat tour too??

Thank you for your question.
Our boat tours are two hours long, leaving from and returning to Whitianga. You are on the boat the whole time except if you want to jump in for a swim/snorkel. We cannot beach the boat due to our glass panels. You will get to see Cathedral Cove on the tour as it is one of the drawcards but you will also see so much more than if you did the walk, we have sea caves and stunning coastline full of history, you also get to see the marine life through our glass panels.
The walk is nice and if you have the time it is worth it, but that is just a tiny part of our tour.
I hope this answers your questions. Bookings are essential for our tour, you can book online on our website.

Yes, we are running tours all labour weekend long and the weather forecast looks great. We are starting to fill up our tours so I would recommend booking in the next couple of days so you are not disappointed. The vis has been great at the moment too, ranging from 5-12meters throughout the tour and fingers crossed it stays like this for the weekend.
