This small church in a small village is an amazing find. The 12 stained glass windows by Marc Chagall are breathtaking. It was a moving but relaxing experience.

A gem of place to visit. Quite amazing to have so many Marc Chagall windows in such a tiny church and a very moving story.

It was an overcast and gloomy day when I visited here, and there was no one else on site so I had a "private viewing" of the Chagall windows. The sun peeked out briefly to illuminate the largest of the windows, and all were just stunning. This tiny church is very rustic and simple, so the windows appear astonishingly jewel-like in their modest setting. I lack religious sensibilities, but the beauty of the art speaks for itself. Well worth the convoluted side trip to find this space.

Even though they arise from a tragedy, these Chagall windows are absolutely stunning and are certainly worth seeking out. On a sunny day, the colours are absolutely magnificent. It is a bit off the beaten track and is not open every day, so check the church's website for full details. Entry is free but any donation is welcome.

A really beautiful experience. IT was a dark cold day and this intensifies the beauty and mystery of the Windows. They are stunning. In sunlight they must take on a different dimension and I shall be back in the summer..
The Window dedicated to Sarah is breathtaking, but I preferred the smaller Windows. There are books and postcards to buy, so take cash. Beautiful scarves to buy online. All to preserve this amazing church.
The architecture of the Church is interesting
Plan your journey as we missed the turn off the main road - nice drive through narrow muddy lanes of the RSPB Reserve! But the church is now well signposted and is situated amidst farm buildings. Good car park.
A couple of miles away is St Thomas a Becket Church in Capel. This has a very old Yew tree, Norman and Gothic revival architecture. On the walls are rare 13th century wall paintings. These are scenes from the Bible, - Cain and Abel and Christ's entry into Jerusalem. I have seen similar paintings in museums in Europe - eg Barcelona. It is good to see these in situ.
There is also a 1905 stained glass east Memorial Window, in the traditional style. I could not find the name of the artist. William Glasby painted similar Windows and there is one at Tonbridge.
There was a group of dedicated church volunteers and we warmed by tea and mince pies.
A horrible, cold, wet Winter's day brightened by these two visits.

At last we made it to Tudeley to visit All Saints. The windows are stunning, especially as we were lucky enough to have visited on a sunny day so the light shone through. Masterpieces in the depths of the Kent countryside, and accompanied by moving and well-selected Biblical quotations (appreciated even by this Humanist). The Jewish connection including Hebrew texts is fascinating also, and the church is in a beautiful rural setting. A truly spiritual experience.

Very nice excuse to leave London for a day. Beautiful windows, great scenery around. We enjoyed walking along surrounding footpaths all the way back to Tonbridge. We enjoyed it greatly!

Tucked away down a country lane is an amazing little church with all its windows executed by Marc Chagall, an impressionist painter originating from Russia. Wonderful story attached to the windows, but go and see for yourself and find out. Well worth the effort,0

Can one travel there by public transport and how?

Buses between Tonbridge and Tudeley run roughly every hour Monday to Friday (route 205). The journey only takes a few minutes. On Saturdays there is a similar timetable but with a couple of two-hours gaps. There is no Sunday service. Check times on the Traveline South East website (for some reason TripAdvisor won't let me include the website link).

How long should we allow for a visit? Is there somewhere nearby where one can get lunch?

If you like art at least an hour. I went twice in a week spending an hour each time. I saw something new the second time in each window. No doubt when I make a third visit I will see something fresh.
