While camping at Chutes Provincial Park in September, 2017, we drove to several various locations to canoe. Following a suggestion of the park warden, we took La Cloche Lake Road to the very end and reached La Cloche Lake—part of this lake was crown land, part a provincial park (La Cloche Provincial Park, established in 1985, a non-operating park, with no activities or facilities), part belonged to the Sagamok Indian Reserve. There was free parking, a camp and some cottages. Since it was very hot and sunny (the temperature in Sudbury hit the +35C mark!), it was very difficult to paddle on the open water, so we headed towards a rocky clearing with a rock table. There was a shady spot where we spent a few hours reading and then went for an invigorating swim. After a few hours we slowly paddled back to the parking lot.
It is a very nice non-operating park, but it was difficult to find more information, so I do not even know if camping is permitted. According to the 1994 “Interim Management Statement” published by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, “Recreation Opportunities: viewing; walking; photography; and, camping is available on adjacent land.” Perhaps there have been some changes since then.

It is located within Sagamok First Nation which is PRIVATE.
Permission to go to "The Fort" must be obtained to visit.
It's a wonderful spot.

La Cloche is a former fur-trading post for the Hudson Bay Company. Located on the Sagamok First Nation, it's quiet and serene and there's even a waterfall.

Worth seeing! It is hidden... takes a little time to find, but once you get there, anything else just cannot compare ... loved that place, wish i could go back asap 😉.

Hi there! Looking to launch a couple kayaks from Fort La Cloche. Is it allowed and is there space to park my truck and kayak trailer? Thanks!
