The red rocks and cliffs were stunning. It was a very windy day with very rough sea which gave it an exhilarating vibe being there. Definitely worth seeing.

Cavendish Cliffs was an absolute highlight of our PEI trip! The beautiful red soil and rocks are such a different thing to see in Canada. The tide was low and we were able to walk right up to the arch. Once there we saw some rock statues that had been left.

Beautiful coast line. The contrast of the coastline was stunning. Easy walk to look around and good parking. Can spend as much time as you want exploring or just do a quick oh pretty and go.

During our shore excursion from the “10-Day Canada and New England” cruise aboard Caribbean Princess ship, we visited Cavendish Cliffs on the way to the Green Gables memorialized by Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables” book. The rugged red sandstone cliffs overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the beaches were familiar scenes from the book and the films based on the book. While walking around the area, we came across a memorial stone with a plaque with Canadian flag and very moving inscriptions on it:
“They will never know the beauty of this place, see the seasons change, enjoy the nature’s chorus. All we enjoy we owe to them, men and women who lie buried in the earth of foreign lands and….. seas. Dedicated to the memory of Canadians who died overseas in the service of their country and so preserved our heritage.” Viewing the Cavendish Cliffs and this moving memorial stone’s inscriptions was a memorable experience for us.

Last week we came here to see the cliffs. The part that we visited was part of Parks Canada.
If you drive along the route of Parks Canada, there are multiple parking lots that you can park your vehicle at and take pictures. Very peaceful and beautiful spot.
Worth the stop.

The Cavendish Cliffs are a truly lovely landmark with their red tones of Prince Edward Island and a lovely place to visit and see on your trip. You can read more on blog, Caravan Sonnet, about our visit to this site!

We were on a coach tour and had just visited Anne of Green Gables homestead when we had a quick photo stop of the beach and cliffs. The views were amazing and so glad we stopped to take photos. The drive back to the cruise terminal at Charlottetown took us through beautiful scenery.

We took a tour from our cruise ship that was primarily Anne of Green Gables related. I didn't remember that we would also be visiting this area - and so glad we did! Beautiful area!

Obviously the sunset and sunrise is great here, and the very red sandstone cliffs are not something you see in other places. There is a road along the cliff and beach areas with many stops so you can get a variety of views.

Are the cliffs dog friendly?

You can't have dogs on the beach but I don't see why they couldn't be everywhere else

How to get to Cavendish cliffs? I understand it is in the PEI national park. Do we take the Cavendish beach entrance or another one? Is there a specific trail to reach them? Thanks

Margaret is correct - you can take either entrance. There are a couple of look out points along the way which are worth stopping at quickly to see the view. The Cliffs that you can walk down to the beach are named ‘Orby’
Hi, Is there a place in Cavendish where there is a beach. Can you go in the water in this area.

Cavendish is a beach. Probably only 10 miles long so it isn't easy to miss. One of the best beaches in eastern Canada.
