Cafe please don't sell dried out old scones!! After a short visit to the grounds we stopped for the obligatory tea and scone.
To summarize...the scone was probably from the day before as it was early on a Saturday and it was stone cold plus very dry/crumbly...and the butter was a hard as rock :-( what a disappointment!

Visited with my young daughter. She absolutely loved the place, so much for her to do.
She even commented on how great it was and it wasn’t just another boring house 😂
Activity centre, games, interactive staff, nice cafe and drinks. Large car park.
Enjoyed the fact that you have to approach the closed car park gates at the end of the day in your car, for them to then open towards your car. Quick reverse out the way then dive for the exit 😂
Great way to spend the afternoon.

No longer just a Museum of Childhood. The whole Hall has been revamped to help children learn about country houses, with lots of things to interact with inside. Really interesting, even if you are not a child.
Staff and volunteers were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Good cafe: smallish but with lots of outdoor seating.

Went today and realised this is lovely place but mainly for children. We knew the museum was a children's museum but thought the house would have nice furniture in etc but alas hardly any at all. Again it is more suited to children.
Worth going though just to see the amazing staircase and hallway. Lots of children there today so little difficult to get round. No lift in main house only museum and long walk from car park if you have mobility problems but there is a buggy that goes back and forth.
No NT shop there now but nice cafe long queues today.

It s an amazing experience that makes you feel like you're traveling around the world in 80 days !
Traveling by hot air balloon over unique natural beauties makes you feel different. In addition to these, beautiful services make you enjoy every moment on the tour.

So there is a long path from car park to museum including crossing a (non-busy) road. Free parking.
The museum was ok, a little boring.
The court yard was pleasent, including a craft zone (£2 each) this looked great for children and adults alike!
The staff were generally OK, helpful to arrange a golf type buggy back to the car.
It was overall ok and has lovely grounds to explore but I won't be in a hurry to go back until the hall is actually open.

We booked ahead & had said we needed help with access on the booking form. It said someone would phone to discuss this but no one ever did.
The car park is a walk from the museum. There was a number to call for help but it was flat so my husband pushed the wheelchair.
Very friendly staff on arrival. The museum is very wheelchair friendly with a lift to every floor.
The museum itself was very good although I found it odd the way some things were laid out - for instance a bright pink plastic barbie car in the middle of a lovely set of old wooden toys. My husband was disappointed there were no old Lego sets. But that’s just our opinions & the museum was very good & brought back some lovely memories.
The restaurant was disappointing for National trust. Wasps all over the tongs by the food & no dairy free / vegan spread.

It was a lovely place to visit if you have children. Without children the museum was okay to walk around but the grounds were quite small. It’s dog friendly but I would only go again if the hall was open. Luckily I’m a member of the NT as it was expensive for what was available. There is a lovely courtyard with shops next door. Parking is free in the car park that is across the road.

Visited at the same time as the Hall for the first time recently. Spent an enjoyable hour looking at all the toys. Although there were a few families and a couple of school groups there seemed to be more adults, all reminiscing about which toys they had as children.
As NT members we didn't have to pay, not sure I would want to pay £12 for about an hour though!

Despite the National Trust marketing this place as “The Children’s Country House” it’s impossible to do if you’ve got young children or a child with additional needs.
We visited today with our 3 year old and our 1 year old (who is in a pushchair). We were told we needed to leave our pushchair in the buggy park while we walked around the hall - it’s was a very tight squeeze due to lots of places being roped off and my 3 year old (who is currently being assessed for autism) was told off by one of the volunteers while I was trying to explain to him why he couldn’t go under the rope. My son needs to be spoken to calmly so he understands why it might not be possible for him to do something and as I was explaining, a volunteer came to us and said “no, not up there, it’s dangerous and you will fall and get hurt” - my 3 year old struggles if you raise your voice and shout when he doesn’t understand so we had to leave the hall so I could calm him down and apologise to him and make him see that he hadn’t done anything wrong. All the while, my partner was struggling with our 1 year old as he doesn’t like being carried. So we left the hall and decided to walk to the play area. Well, what a disappointment. Half of it was roped off and the other half was dominated by much older teenagers who were climbing all over it which meant my son was too frightened to even go onto it. We attempted to get into the museum and were told no pushchairs were allowed in there either. Absolutely appalling. It took us an hour and a half to get there and we spent all of 15 minutes there and had to come home. The car park is also a mile away from the house so if you have children who can’t walk very far, it’s impossible. We will NOT be returning with our children. I’m just glad as NT members, we didn’t have to pay to get in.

I would like to bring a group of 9 English pupils and 13 French pupils who are working together on a project about life of children in Victorian times compared to the one nowadays. Do you have guides who speak French? Can we experience life at school there and how much extra does it cost?
