Hi there, It is possible for the cave to flood when we experience heavy rainfall. When this occurs we are still able to run tours of the first chamber up to the flood water for half the price. Both caves are totally different to one another and so it really depends on what you want to see. Peak Cavern is a large natural cavern, the only fully natural show cave in the immediate area, and hosts the largest entrance to a cavern in the British isles. This tour is 1 hour long detailing the history of the caves inhabitants and the unique geology throughout. Speedwell on the other hand is an 18th century lead mine. This visit is done mostly by boat, lasts roughly 45 minutes and discusses the history of lead mining down speedwell and in he local area itself. Tours at speedwell run every 20 minutes, tours at peak run on the hour every hour. Hope this helps.

During the school Holidays and weekends when the cave is busy, we allow dogs that are able to sit on your lap for the duration of the trip, unfortunately larger dogs are unable to go due to the capacity of the boats. Our Sister Cavern, Peak Cavern ‘The Devils A**e’ allow dogs of all size all year round. Thank you.

At the moment out car park machine is currently out of order due to vandalism. Car park tickets can be purchased in the gift shop on site and can be paid using cash or card, providing the card is contactless.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the mine access is limited. There are 106 steps down to, and back up from, the boat. There are handrails on both sides of the steps and there is absolutely no rush to get down or up.

There is no weight limit for the tour.

Yes you can however they do say when it's particularly busy the dog must be able to sit on your lap to save room in the boat when it's full.

Hi, as many people have said this is not an attraction with easy access. definitely not for people in wheelchair due to the steep steps and boat access. Access to the boats is to step from the landing stage into the boat by standing onto a seat then into the boat. Once into the cavern it is not easy access out of the boat and those at the back have to climb over the bench seats to the front of boat and then there is a little tricky step out into the cave. then you have the return journey and all the steps to climb to exit the cave.
