‪Lovely day out for all ages‬
أغسطس 2021
‪Outstanding attraction for people of all ages. Whether you're particularly interested in industrial heritage, or just fancy a walk along the towpath I'd highly recommend a visit. It's a really unique thing to see, and the volunteers are all incredibly friendly and concerned with making sure you enjoy your visit. Great playground and woodland walks nearby, plenty of parking, easy access. Can't fault it.‬

‪Great day out with plenty to do.‬
أغسطس 2021
‪Great day out with plenty to do. There were 4 adults and two 8-year-olds to entertain for over 4 hours. We parked up and wandered through the wooded area and looked for the various birds and read the information boards. We bought the boat tickets for a trip along the canal/museum entrance fee. We only had to wait for about 10 minutes for the boat to return to pick us up. The 2 fellas on it were very friendly and chatted to the passengers about the wild birds around - ducks, coots and moorhens and the canal area in general. The crewman gave the children some bird food to feed the ducks etc. He did this several times and explained that the ducks would follow the boat waiting for more food. We went into the first part of the museum (there are 3 areas to visit). The guide was very interesting to listen to and he explained all about the furnace and the lives of the people who lived and worked there. We had a big choice of picnic benches to choose from around the canal area. After our picnic, we returned to explore the other 2 areas of the museum. The children enjoyed the hands-on area at the top part of the furnace. We then went to the big play area, which was full of many climbing things as well as the usual swings, slides etc. The toilets were clean and FREE to use! We didn't go in the cafe this time, so can't say about it.‬

‪A bit of industrial heritage.‬
يونيو 2021
‪Stayed for a hot weekend in Castle Donnington and came here for an afternoon visit. Free parking and loads of paths to walk/cycle and we visited the museum/blast furnace and took the little boat trip. (small entry fee) The volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable about the history and it made for a pleasant couple of hours.
There were a few craft shops and a cafe, but we just got an ice cream (which was delicious) from the museum‬

‪Highly recommend visiting! Visited with my children 12,6 & 3 also with 2 dogs. Museum was available but we didn't go inside. Lime kilns the kids loved. Woodland walk was also great. Boat ride we loved and took dogs on all 5 of us and dogs £9 really worth it.

Lovely walk along the canal also.

Children's play area is also a must.

It's ran by colunterrs6these do a fab job.‬

‪Interesting historic site in a lovely location‬
مايو 2021
‪We visited Moira during the coronavirus restrictions so it was not possible to go into the museum but it was still well worth going there.
Finding the park was quite easy - we approached from the Ashby de la Zouch direction and had no problems finding the park.
Car parking is free and there is a pleasant woodland walk to the main site.
At the main site there are the (quite complete) remains of the furnace and the associated remains of lime kilns. There is a commercial craft village which would be interesting is less restricted times.
The furnace building is next to the Ashby Canal - this is "in water" and weekend barge trips are offered. A canalside walk is a pleasant way to spend some time here.‬

‪Fantastic venue - but give the cafe a miss.‬
أغسطس 2020
‪If you are vaguely interested in wildlife and history then this area will keep you captivated for hours. The website explains what you can expect, but the reality of a visit exceeds expectations with woodland, canal side and wild flower meadow walks all within a manageable area, The museum and lime kilns are an added bonus with free parking too.

But oh dear, The Hub cafe is another story. Previous reviews have had a moan and it seems little has changed. We ordered two cappuccinos and couldn't believe how tasteless they were, just like a mix of hot water and milk. My wife felt she should point this out to the staff, but was simply told all the correct measures had been loaded into the machine. Note to staff - try it yourself.

So, six stars for the venue, but take a flask.‬

Thank you, John, for such a great review! We are very proud of our site and the history around it. The volunteers take great pride in the site and museum and pride themselves on delivering the best service they can, whether face to face or behind the scenes. Unfortunately, the Hub Cafe is a private business in a unit owned and leased out by the district council. We have no control over them or they offer. Maybe a review on their Tripadvisor would be beneficial as they will get this directly and be able to act on it. When the museum is open, we do sell refreshments from the museum. We hope you return and see us again in the future. Thank you

‪Lovely place for a winter walk‬
زوجان • يناير 2020
‪We love Moira country park for a walk at any time. Many of the paths are all weather, though even these get a bit muddy. There is a variety of scenery, tow path and woodland. Plenty of parking and a cafe if the mood suits.‬

‪Great little place to visit if you have a couple of hours to spare. The history of the furnace is interesting and it’s lovely to take a stroll by the canal followed by tea and cake in the cafe. Keep an eye out for the various festivals etc held here during the spring and summer months‬
