I went for a hike at Orchard Hills Park on a Sunny Tuesday afternoon at the end of September. I learned to golf here many years ago, so it was surreal to see it now. It is at least 5 years into its transition to a natural meadow. There are some areas I still recognize as particular holes, but in most areas the course is erased. The park has some rolling hills and is a pretty easy walk. The fall wildflowers were in full bloom and this place will look even better when the leaves change later in the fall. There were very few people here and you can get a great walk in. Mine was about 2 miles by sticking mostly to the perimeter of the old course. There were many options to make that longer or shorter.

This park is not very big compare to North Chagrin Reservation, but you have couple trails. And it has wonderful place to make a big party. We celebrated there several Birthdays and Graduation Party for our grandson. They have room for a lot of people. Beautiful fireplace inside. Tables and benches.And great playground for a lot of activities. But you HAVE To make reservation for your party first day in January! Or it will be booked!

I am in this park 5 times a week. The trails are nicely maintained and the setting is serene. A lake, wooded areas, open pastures and some swamp areas and wetlands provide sanctuary for a large variety of wildlife I see here on a daily basis.
The Park District does a terrific job of keeping this place up and I applaud them for it.
We always vote to fund this.
One problem is, many of the dog walkers do not respect the park or the other people who want to enjoy it.
What ever happened to: "Leave it the way you found it and never leave anything behind"?
Today I walked 2 1/2 miles of the paths and saw 4 piles of dog doo right in the middle of the gravel path. Not to mention the tens of piles along the grass berm that they keep nicely mowed.
This beautiful park is not a litter box for your dogs. Pick up your dog's business. Never leave it there. Every once in while you will see a plastic bag with dog doo in it just laying next to the path that someone left behind, maybe for a park worker to pick up. Are you kidding me?
Maybe better signage to give people a hint that they should pick up after their dogs would help.

Trails are mostly crushed stone w some remaining asphalt cart paths from previous golf course. Easy to moderate walk through fields and light trees. Playground near parking lot. Several picnic pavilions available. Enjoyable any season.

Great public park that was given by the Patterson’s to the County after years as a fun golf course. The park has been left to go back to the wild and the results have been spectacular. My favorite season is winter for snow shoeing; no, spring for the awakening of the trees;nope, summer for the full bloom and wildlife and ponds; actually fall for the colors and apples. Oh well they are all great times. Several miles of trails- some groomed in winter.

Hiked around on 10/21. Great trails and places to cook. We ran into a wedding party. Lots of fun. All was clean and close to Patterson's off Caves.

Love walking the various paths and trails with my dogs. Wonderful views and just down the hill from another favorite place of ours Patterson Fruit Farm.

Orchard Hills Park was a scenic golf course that the Geauga Park system acquired about five years ago and has been returning to its natural state. That has occurred very quickly, and the former fairways are now meadows filled with wild flowers and birds.
They've done a really nice job of turning this into a park. There are several pavilions of varying sizes with picnic tables and fireplaces. There is a playground area and easy parking. Once you get past the main areas there are over a mile of pathways run along former golf cart paths that are now pleasant nature trails. It's a place for a nice walk and moderate hiking.
This is a pretty well kept secret and if you don't know where it is it is easy to blow past it on Caves road. It's just north of the easier-to-find and well-marked Patterson's Fruit Farm.
This is in a semi-rural area, and while the facilities are new and well maintained, there is no municipal water, so the restrooms are basically latrine affairs. They work, but you might want to plan ahead if you'd prefer something more modern.
One review on this site criticized the food at an event here. There is no food available at this park (although there are lots of covered picnic areas), so that criticism was probably more properly directed to the caterer than to this park.
If you want a nice walk or stress-free hike in an attractive setting, this park is a very nice choice.

Great trails well maintained. Large fishing pond available as well as a few wood stocked heated shelters. Playground for little ones is a nice touch. Great sled fill in winter right off the road makes for hours of winter fun in addition to the groomed cross country ski trails.

This place is wonderful!
An old golf course converted into a park. New pavilions were put up with fireplaces, a playground. The golf cart paths are now trails. Very serene. Very good maintenance here, always kept up.
