its nice to say I was at the starting point but all it is , just a sign post along a busy road with just a small car pull off if you want a picture.

for such an important piece of American history, this is under developed and ignored. just a quick roadside marker and presentation board. watch traffic with kids.

The "Point of Beginning" in my home town of East Liverpool is one of only several hundred "National Historic Engineering Landmarks" worldwide. This monument on the Ohio River at the Pennsylvania Border marks the spot where surveyors started dividing the great Northwest Territory into a series of "Ranges." It formed the basis of the one-mile-square grid system that eventually spread across most of the Central US.

This marker established the north-south boarder between Pennsylvania and Virginia, and provided for the survey of the western lands of the United States (except Texas) which began in September 30, 1785.
