We visit RSPB Titchwell Marsh whenever in the area. There is a variety of habitats, café, toilets, shop.
They will now hire telescopes as well as binoculars. If looking to purchase optics they will advise and there is a viewing area outside you can try them at.
The cafe has had a refit since our last visit. The outdoor serving hatch is no longer in use, there is a counter inside.
This visit we went down the East Trail - only open at certain times when people won’t disturb the birds. We saw a black winged stilt and spoonbills. You never know what you’ll see on that visit but know you’ll see something.

This is a well maintained reserve on the North Norfolk coast. Relatively large and especially good for waders. There is a car park, toilets, shop etc. The shop closes at 5pm but the reserve is still accessible after this.

Great nature reserve, plenty of paths and access, numerous hides with fantastic views. Spoonbill, Marsh Harrier, Avocet, Grasshopper Warbler amongst plenty of others spotted.

The member of staff taking payment at the entrance was great. Walk down to the beach is lovely. Had read that beach is dog friendly and they can be let off the lead once on the beach, which is the reason we came here today. We let our dog have a run around at the beach only to be told by a member of staff/volunteer that he needed to be put back on his lead due to young birds in the sand dunes. It would have been helpful to have been made aware of this before we paid for entry. There were other dogs on the beach off their lead, not sure why their owners weren't made to put their dog on the lead too. Our dog was going in the sea and not the dunes.

Paths are wheelchair friendly as is the island hide. Saw spoonbill, avocet and sedge warbler. Lovely way to spend a morning. Toilets in car park

Titchwell Marsh, for an amateur naturalist such as myself, ticks all the boxes. A beautiful and varied landscape - encompassing marsh, dunes, beach, woodland, pond, meadow and scrub - bursting with wildlife, especially birds. It has well-maintained, very walkable paths and well appointed hides, as well as plenty of seating along the way. There is an excellent RSPB shop and a pleasant cafe serving drinks, snacks and sandwiches of a good standard. I had an extremely enjoyable visit.

A great way to spend a few hours. Easy to walk around, lots of birds to see and the bonus of a stunning beach at the end of one of the walks.
We saw buntings, warblers and advocets to name but a few and we didn’t have to sit around for ages to spot them-great for people like us who enjoy a bit of bird spotting whilst walking. It’s lovely just to hear the singing.
At £7 per adult we thought the price was good value. Parking was easy too with toilets next to the car park, there’s also a shop and small cafe too. Staff were cheery and helpful.

Place is in need of some attention espically the toilets and the cafeteria. toilets were quite clean but a very strong smell inside and out of urine.
Had a drink and scone in the cafe, the Scone was stale and unedible, another customer had commented they had tried one the previous day and had the same experience, when queried with cafe staff we were informed they had been baked in the morning (highly questionable)
When entering one of the hides one of the windows was broken and would not shut, when attempting to sit on stools the gas strut was broken and I was abruptly taken to the floor which should be a H&S concern.
A big thank you to Robin & Paul and the other two gentlemen in the welcome hub on Thursday.

Stunning winter morning with a dusting of snow. The two gentlemen in the welcome hub were very friendly and told us to check the sightings board in the shop so that we could see what had been seen where. Walked the beach trail and a very kind couple let us have a look through their scope in order to see the Bearded Tits, what a treat, they were beautiful.
Dredging going on so many birds were gone but we had already been advised of this by the volunteers. Nevertheless it's a Stunning place to visit especially on a cold frosty day.

On a bitterly cold but sunny afternoon we were in for a treat. Nice clean loos by car park, super shop and cafe, easy to find hides, good gravel pathways and a sunset coloured sky beyond the sand dunes, wonderful. Lots of unusual sightings for me, being new to bird watching, but amongst many we saw spotted Redshank, Little Egret, Teal, Shovelers, Black Tailed Godwit, Mallards, Kingfisher, Oyster Catchers and a Starling murmeration plus a Monkjac deer. Highly recommend a visit.

I’m a life member of the RSPB! But I must asked this question to the RSPB at Titchwell on behalf of Non-Members. The footpath at Titchwell Marsh at the entrance is a public footpath. Just as the case is at Bempton Cliffs. And no non-member need have to pay an admission charge to go on to a public footpath, which is why dogs on leads are allowed. The National Trust years ago did a similar thing at the Giants Caiseway which didn’t say that anyone could down to the Giants Causeway free of charge and legal action was going to be taken againsf the National Trust in Northern Ireland because of this. The National Trust knew they could well lose that legal case. Now if any non-member of the RSPB took similar action against either Bempton Cliffs or Titchwell Marsh! Legally the RSPB wouldn’t have a case unless that was mentioned on the entrance sign to both of those RSPB reserves that any non-members didn’t have to pay to go on either public footpaths. So my question to the management at Titchwell Marsh. Does the entrance sign to Titchwell Marsh mention that any non-member of the RSPB doesn't have to pay any admission charge to Titchwell Marsh because of the public footpath. If nothing is mentioned about that. Legally the RSPB would have difficulty winning any action by anyone over that situation as the National Trust had to accept that involving the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland!

Hello Ian,
It's Lucy from the Titchwell Visitor Operations team here. Thanks for your thoughts on the admission charge and for your Life Membership to the RSPB.
You're quite correct that there is a public footpath on a part of the reserve. The charge to non-members is for admission to the whole reserve and use of our facilities, including the car park, permissive paths, toilets, hides and of course the maintenance of the land itself for conservation purposes. This is a legal and standard method of supporting the work that we do. RSPB Members already support our work on reserves, which is why reserve entry is included in the price of membership.
Of course, if a visitor was NOT to use any of our facilities and only the public footpath, then there is no cost to either the visitor or us. Our entry and welcome signage is designed for visitors to our reserve and facilities only. We have found that non-members are very happy to support the work we do in the context of the nature and climate emergency, and are very grateful to use our car park and toilets at the very least.
I hope that answers your question, but if you do have anything more specific, please do feel free to contact us.
Very best regards,
Lucy.

Hi, could anyone please tell me if I can bring my little dog along with me on a trip anytime of the year?
كُتب بتاريخ 23 مايو 2018
Your dog will be welcome on the footpath which forms the “backbone” of the reserve, as long as it is kept on a lead under close control. You’ll get good views of the lagoons and birds, and the footpath leads straight onto the beach, where s/he could be let off lead. You won’t be able to go into the hides or go off on side paths, but the main path gives you excellent views of the bulk of the reserve. Enjoy!
