Best part of Chelmsford high street is Bond Street. Clean and airy, with underground parking and a big John Lewis. I wish council can make it more attractive for other shops to come to Bond Street and fill the few empty shops.

If you visit Chelmsford then its well worth you making your way up the High Street where you will find this street on the left & in it you will find many popular retail outlets.

Hanley ((Stoke-on-Trent) has its Piccadilly; now Chelmsford has its Bond Street. No auction houses or sculptures of Churchill and Roosevelt yet, but a branch of Whitehall Galleries, and a view of the River at one end. Perhaps pride of place should go to the large branch of John Lewis opposite what resembles a veritable metallic spaceship housing a branch of Wagamama in its ground floor. There’s even a branch of Foyles bookshop which together with the one in Oxford’s Westgate Centre is the only one I’ve seen outside London’s Charing Cross Road.

I've lived in Chelmsford since 1981, so easily recall when this area looked rundown. Now, it has an array of shops and leads to a more vibrant part of Chelmsford than we had in the past. Bond Street hasn't been told that there's a decline on the High Street. There's a good balance of places to eat and shops. John Lewis is the main draw, and rightly so. It still maintains a friendly and trustworthy brand of department store, sometimes lacking in other establishments.
As previously reviewed, I recommend the Everyman cinema as a solution to other cinemas, which can be found here.

love all the shops in Bond street and loads of restaurants to chose from a good selection for everyone. good parking close by and very clean and tidy

To be entirely honest, I was a little disappointed with Bond Street. As a well advertised extension to the City centre, we expected events/something unique. All it is is another row of fairly pricey stores that feel very built up and close together.
Good if you need any of the stores that are down there and Chelmsford is your closest, otherwise not worth a special trip out

This street can be found on the right hand side near the top of the High Street. This narrow street widens out into a pedestrian area & has some very popular retail outlets such as John Lewis
& many more & as well as this there are cafes & restaurants for you to eat & drink in. Great place to chill & rest a while.

once a run down car park this has been regenerated into the high end shopping destination of chelmsford, as such is probably the place to go if you was to visit the city

Easily overlooked side alley off Chelmsfords main High Street opens up to an area of fairly pricey upmarket and smart modern shops and restaurants that includes John Lewis, Foyles, art gallery, Everyman Cinema and chocolatier and eventually leads to the River Chelmer. There is a good range of restaurants here by the River offering Italian, fish, Caribbean and Burger type meals.
