I was at Hyde Hall on a morning when it was snowing. Weather doesn't affect my view of gardens, since gardens are different every day. I'm so glad I saw Hyde Hall: the person at the counter said be sure to view the Winter Garden, and that's where I started. It's simply brilliant and possibly the best winter garden to be seen anywhere -- variety, color, texture, shapes. It's one of the most exciting, creative gardens to be seen anywhere. The tea shop was well stocked for hot cocoa afterwards. One must exit through the overstocked shop, an impossible wander without dropping a few more bob. Wonderful garden and an area highlight.

These gardens are magnificent and never dissapoint whatever time of year you go .
HOWEVER .Our visit was February 2023.
We made a couple of visits on the day to the shop level coffee shop .
We were rather disgusted to be honest at the state of the upholstery on the seats we had at our table and trying to find something that looked clean in the end choosing non upholsterd seats. The ones we encountered from our and nearby tables were discusting with stains and bits of food on them .Looking very unclean .Are they ever looked at I wonder they sure could do with a deep clean .

Re-visit on Friday 05th August 2022 for their annual flower show, which in truth was more trade show as the only flowers on show, were those in front of each trade stand. Nice all the same but a bit of a con. Also felt sorry for the traders on the hill who were pretty much abandoned during thus show.

Glow 2022. Very very disappointed. Wish we had not waisted time and money. £80?? From last year, nowhere near the amount of lights and area as last year. We feel conned.
Definitely will not be going again and definitely will not be joining the RHS which we were planning to do. Only gave it the one star because I had to. Many people leaving with us expressed the same feelings. We will be spreading the word. Rubbish. Hope organizers feel proud of conning people.

The winter garden light show is a magical Xmas event that all the family will enjoy. Visited with a group of friends of varying ages and we all had a really nice time. Really good venue and all the money goes to good cause too. Definitely worth a visit.

GLOW 2022... Extremely disappointed. Nearly £15 each to see some trees lit up, and more trees lit up and more! There was no music, no atmosphere. I have experienced better through a public park for free.

In daytime this place is lovely, really well kept and a pleasure to wander round. But the Glow event was a real let down. It was just coloured lights pointing at trees. And then more of the same. Over and over. None of the variety, interaction or creativity that rival displays of this type have. There was nothing Christmassy or magical about it at all and it was just far too dull for children. I mean at least make a few of the lights twinkle! The queues for very expensive food were enormous and there wasn't enough seating for people eating. It was also too crowded. If the event was free then it would have been nice enough but it wasn't and we blew our Christmas outing budget on being bored. I'm not a fan of negative reviews but I just want to stop anyone else wasting time and money which they could use elsewhere. The RHS are experts at gardening and maybe they should stick to that or get a better company to manage this event in the future so it can live up to the promise. The plants on offer here are wonderful but once the sun goes down it needs some pizazz. Also a couple of lights in the carpark to avoid accidents might be good. Go to the Hylands House display instead.

HydeHall Glow was very disappointing, some random music in a couple of places and very little variation in the lighting. There was nothing of interest for my grandchildren, such as fairies, faces on trees or anything other than trees and plants, apart from one small stag. Shall not be going again.

Turned up for the Glow experience. Popped into the cafe for a quick drink before heading out. Staff not particularly festive or interested in serving, staff in the gardens didn’t engage with the public. Music was a bit random, maybe some classical festive music rather than animal savannah sounds? Lights pretty but path very dark, luckily I had a torch. Midway stopped for a glass of mulled wine, all a bit chaotic, took ages to get a drink. Got to the exit and headed home. One hour max, wouldn’t go again.

Are the gardens beatiful this time of year? I would have imagined it was fairly bare apart from any evergreen but surprised by your comments. Are there flowers and colours to see apart from the shop?

Hi,
This is a RHS garden there will be flowers with colours to suit all the seasons. This time of year it will be planted up with spring bulbs, pansies, wallflowers and many more plants.

I am interested in attending the contemporary art fair later this month, do I need to pay for both the craft fair and entry to the garden? Or can i just pay to go the fair. Your website does not make this clear.

Daniel, the craft fair is free with normal garden admission, so that's £11.00 for adults and £5.50 for children.
