Stayed here in our motorhome for 3 nights. What a tranquil place, so calming. I only fished for one day. A well kept lake with platforms making it easily accessible for a blind fisherman to fish safely.
The cafe was launched while I was here and I had a breakfast each morning. The food is certainly tasty, presented hot to the table and more importantly there is black pudding and fried bread is served instead of hash browns - yeah! And the brews are good, too. We will certainly return.

As well as offering a well stocked and beautifully maintained trout lake, the owners have opened a cafe. Clean, good honest food freshly cooked and excellent coffee. I hope that the fly fishing community will support their new venture and help it thrive.
This is our second time camping here and we love it, so peaceful and a beautiful view. The weather has been dreadfully wet and we got stuck, but we were easily and quickly towed by Darren. The field drains well so getting off won’t be a problem.

The heavy rain has cooled the water and sunk a lot of the weed.Water clarity is very good in places.Lots of fish not only rising but jumping around the weedy areas presumably dislodging snails etc.I tried various methods,dries,nymphs,buzzers and lures but no luck.
Please note for the present time there is no catch and return ticket.Catch and kill 2 fish is £20.
Free tea and coffee unlike some places who are charging.

Free rising fish all over the lake.Some jumping completely out of the water.I do the 5 hour £14 C&R ticket,no limit to how many you catch and put back.Lots of anglers there the other day mostly using Buzzers under an indicator.Clean toilets and free tea and coffee.Covid regulation do apply at discretion.Chris or Fred there most of the time.

Visited on this very cold morning.Some thin ice in the sides.Did the usual C&R ticket.Used fast inter line with black snake lure and had 15 fish in 5 hours session.Fish were on the bottom and biting savagely.Preparations and groundworks progressing for the construction of a permanent house for Christine and the family but this does not hamper the fishing.Still best to pre book.

Usual thursday visit.Lake has been restocked recently.Lots of fish rising but it was very hot and windy.It is still best to pre book your place.Covid restrictions still in place.Fished today using sinking line and minkies.
A lot of the weed in the swims has been cleared and water clarity was good.Back again next week.

First day of opening after Covid closedown.Tickets have to be pre booked.Lovely sunny morning with a stiff breeze.Lots of work done to the pool including removal of hedging,trees,bullrushes and reeds making casting a lot easier all round the lake.Started at 8am.Lots of fish rising all over the lake.I had 15 fish to the net and lost others as using barbless hooks.Mine were all on floating line with black/blue flash damsels.
Covid rules still apply with distancing but tea/coffee is still available free of charge.Darren and Christine now live on site.
They have caravan/camping authorised area but limited facilities.

Hard going today even though loads of fish rising and jumping all over the lake.It rained heavily so we all got wet.
Major moves in store as of this week the owners will be living on site in new accomodation..Access has been improved for vehicles.

First time allowed back since lockdown.You need to ring up to book a place before going.Fishing starts at 8am.Strict distancing has been measured out by the picnic benches.No entry to the Lodge but the toilet is open.Lots of improvements done to aid the angler.I had the £14 C&R ticket and managed to land 9 on blue flash damsels,loads of fish free rising.There were 10 anglers there with loads of space between each other.Have booked to come again.Well done Christine and Darren.

I love this lake. I rely heavily on the advice that is provided by the owners, they are really lovely, and know their stuff. There are very reasonably priced flies to purchase on site, which I find so helpful as I navigate the day. The fish are in great condition and fight hard. The prices are a bargain, 2 fish for £16

Hello.Yes if you ring Christine,who owns the fishery,she can arrange for tuition and you can hire rods etc.she will advise you on which flies to use and she will genuinely help you.Free tea and coffee.
