Amazing renovation, however taking an elderly disabled person to the property was a short anxiety for them.
This was because we entered the property, only to be told we had to head back to the gift shop to purchase the tickets.
It would be useful if this was speculated on the entrance (unless we missed that)
Thanks though for the staff inside 😊

My partner and I were looking for things to do in the wider Lancashire area and we came across Astley Hall in our search. It was an absolute treat.
To start, the cafe and shop are both lovely, the grounds are varied and good to stroll round on a warm day, plus the actual house itself is very interesting and well looked after. But what made this visit stand out was twofold. Firstly there was a very clear sense of care and consideration for the entire place, something which was tangible throughout. It was refreshing to be somewhere where this could be felt. Secondly the staff were quite simply phenomenal - friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. Special mention to John whose insight into the history of the house were an absolute joy to listen to. I think we ended up chatting for around 40 mins or so!
I've been to many stately homes and though not the most grandiose or historically momentous, Astley Hall will stay with me for far more valuable reasons. Big recommend.

Barrica in the Park is a lovely hidden gem in Astley Park Close to the hall.
They sell lovely wines, beers, spirits, coffee, jams, cakes, pies and gifts made by local artists.
The staff are friendly and helpful and can recommend wines for your meals.
I would highly recommend a visit, especially in the warmer weather when you can relax in their garden with a refreshing drink, or two.

Had a trip to Astley Hall because it was advertising that it was trimmed for Christmas. Expected to see lots of decorations and lights and a festive atmosphere. The guides were very welcoming and informative. Sadly the Christmas display consisted of a few decorated trees and not much else. If you have not seen the hall since its renovation then its worth a trip but do not go expecting a Christmas treat. There is now an entry charge dependent on age and location.

Astley Hall is an amazing place - it has recently been renovated and is well worth a visit. The entrance fee is modest, and the guides are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Lots of interesting items and some particularly impressive ceilings. The hall is set in huge grounds, with a very pleasant cafe and shop. We really enjoyed our visit today, and thought that it was one of the best houses of its type that we’ve seen. Altogether an excellent day out.

We had a poor start to our visit. We were refused entry as the card machine was broken and like many people we had no cash. Surely a note could have been added to the website? We drove a mile or more to Tesco to get cash. We then looked for a table in the cafe and all were full. There was a torrential downpour. We didn't want to venture outside but were asked to leave for the shop as we were in the doorway. How crass is that?
The house itself is wonderful and even more wonderful were the friendly and knowlegeable guides who made our visit a pleasure. What a gem Astely Hall is. The only negative was the crude and frankly stupid AV presentation by some dressed-up pratt in the main hall. We are not children. We don't have to have things pushed at us all the time. Quiet is acceptable. The guide told us that when the AV presentation broke down for a day it was a sheer relief. She brought in some Elizabethan music and everyone was really pleased at how appropriate this was. Why don't the management listen to the guides instead of to some pushy consultants who obviously know nothing.
The gardens and grounds were superb.
Considering that this place is a national treasure - it really is - it is marketed very badly. What a shame. On the other hand how lucky the people of Chorley are to have this amazing facility on their doorstep. We bought the annual pass. we shall be back!

Park and walk around the beautiful grounds for free.
Enter the hall for a reasonable price for adults with substantial discounts for locals. The hall itself has had some refurbishment and is without doubt one of the best maintained of its kind . There are recorded pieces detailing life in the hall in its 400 history and volounteers to answer any questions.
There’s real love in the upkeep of the hall and it’s grounds and friendly and enthusiastic volounteers doing their bit. One of best of its kind and hits a lot of National Trust properties for six.
Worth mentioning the on site Cafe Ambio with its quality food and helpful staff.

First visit since the refurbishment- so much better with a route to follow, interactive displays, information in each room, with pleasant and helpful staff.
You can see how much work has taken place and all the hard work that went into the refurbishment. There is now an admission fee but it’s not expensive and with every penny!
Loved the candles in the rooms too!

I had never heard of this place, but what a find and joy to visit. Set in lovely grounds, the historic house has under gone some amazing restoration, and is still undergoing it on the outside. The rooms are small, compared to some stately homes, but magnificent still. The plasterwork, is some of the best I have seen. The guides in the rooms are full of knowledge. The parkland is extensive, and there is a small walled garden and orchard. The cafe in the old stables does lovely bacon and sausage sandwiches.

The Hall will be open for Flower Show ticket holders only on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July. Hi is Astley Hall suitable for dogs?
OldBear
Wigan, UK9,702 مساهمة
Yes and no..... the grounds are accessible to dogs, but you cannot take dogs into the Hall, cafe or the additional buildings. I presume a Guide dog is exempt to this rule!
There is outdoor seating at the cafe where I saw visitors sitting with their dogs.
The grounds around the lake is also an area that you can take your dog 🐶.
Hope you enjoy your visit.
