Such a lovely day out yesterday, the boat was well equipped and comfortable. Very friendly welcome and everything was clearly explained to us. Would highly recommend, thank you!

Best Day out Ever.
Met By Lucien who put us all at ease as he ran through the safety routine.
We took 4 Adults, 2 teens and A 3 year old and they all really enjoyed the experience.
Our Boat was equipped for the Day with a stove and everything to enjoy a small meal. Toilet and USB charger port for those that must have some tecnology (3 year old)
The teens were 14 years old and both enjoyed having a quick go at steering under supervision and were very quick to get to grips with it all Even being enthusiastic about who was going to do what when it came to mooring up.
Lots of things to see along the way and places to stop. Everyone on the Canal we met were very pleasant and helpful and if any further help was needed Lucien is only a phone call away.
This was our second visit and it wont be the last.

Lucien is a nice guy and as always the boat was ready and running before our arrival. Had a great day out. The boat was clean and equipped well enough. It can supposedly take 10, but I would recommend less people so as not to be too cramped, especially at this time of year if you need to escape the weather.

Had to cancel at short notice today due to a positive covid result. We really thought that was the right thing, though apparently not. I'm OK about losing my £50 deposit as I understand the man is running a business but to send me a snotty email about how he's sat with the boat running, waiting for me and now he loses his money too. Even though i gave him 2 hours notice, which is when we found out. Had my partner not been so ill, perhaps we would have still gone and put all the future travellers at risk of catching covid from the boat. Although probably not, because although there may be no legal restrictions, money is nothing when compared to people's health. Very disappointed in this man's attitude! I won't be booking again and most certainly would not recommend to anyone. Stay safe people.

Hired a canal boat for the day to celebrate my brother and mum’s birthday. We had a lovely time and were out all day, mooring up at the MaltHouse Farm for lunch. We really appreciated the amenities on the boat, and the friendly staff who ensured we had a fun day out. It was thoroughly enjoyed by adults and dogs alike!

Had a great day out with 4 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 2-11. The boat was well equipped and we had an excellent safety talk from Lucien to set us off. A stop off at Fredericks ice cream parlour topped it off.

Chilling and enjoying the scenery. Seeing kingfishers, grey heron and friendly fishermen and tow path walkers.

Great day out, well looked after clean and tidy barges, it’s a lovely way to see the countryside, with an occasional stop off for a short walk or get an ice cream if you travel Chorley direction and past Fredericks Ice Cream Parlour. We have used Ellerbeck almost every year for over 25 years for our annual girls barge get together. Highly recommend.

What a brilliant family day we had last Monday. We also took our dog Mickey along. This was a 60th birthday present and on my to do tick list. Before we were allowed to start Lucien was professional, very clear with his instructions and funny. The weather was beautiful, we took a picnic along and had lots of laughs. Can't wait to do it again.

We have just spent a lovely day on the Leeds-Liverpool canal on our self steer narrowboat with our two young grandsons and their parents. I was very impressed by the organisation and the friendly and helpful owner Lucien. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Also thanks to the ladies on the double decker bus cafe who provided lunch mid way through our adventure. I would highly recommend the whole experience!

Hi, each of our boats can take a maximum of 10 people so you'll need to hire 2 boats for your 20 people. We often have larger groups hiring more than one boat.

Hi, I was wondering if you have any availablility for rental towards the back end of July to any week of august please? We would prefer Saturday to Saturday or Friday to Friday if at all possible? Please could you advise of the cost and what that includes?

Hi Elaine,
Prices for day hire are as follows:
Monday to Friday between 1st October and 31st March are £100 with weekends and bank holidays being £125.00.
Monday to Friday between 1st April and 30th September are £120 with weekends and bank holidays being £155.00.
