Super place to visit. Loved the tea room, very friendly service. They even had gluten free bread and Chocolate brownies plus they had vegan cheese etc. The ‘full fat’ food was also good!

Interesting windmill. Self guided tour and exhibition in the building alongside. There’s also a brewery next door and a nice cafe with a tempting selection of cakes.

We went primarily for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. It was fantastic! Everyone catered for, including children and ‘fussy’ eaters, food fresh and delicious, plenty of top ups of drinks and great surroundings in one of the old miller’s rooms. Staff lovely. Also had chance to look around the windmill and sample the reasonably priced gift shop. Highly recommended

Brilliant place. The windmill is great, the older children loved the opportunity to climb up and see the machinery, while the younger ones loved looking for the little mice hidden around. The exhibition was really informative, with much to engage children (aged between 3 and 9).
Scones in the cafe were incredible , and the climbing frame in the beautiful garden was a nice touch.
Toilets squeaky clean, and free hard standing parking available.
Each and every member of staff was polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and they could not have gone further for our family.
100% recommend

Excellent spot with an amazing windmill, tea rooms an a micro brewery with great beers. Definitely worth a visit and keep an eye on the railway crossing because it has old-fashioned gates which a chap has to open and close !! Marvellous !!

What a lovely place this is. Staff very helpful and friendly you can go up inside the windmill they have a nice shop with a good selection of gives and products produced at the windmill. An excellent day out.

We have been a few times with friends and received a warm welcome at the brewery and in the shop. We decided to try the tea rooms one Friday lunch time and we we met with the most officious welcome from an elderly lady behind the counter. We said you would like 2 scones and she retorted there’s 3 sorts! We asked if we could buy their bread. We don’t sell it she responded with no direction of where we might buy some. We made our order then she proceeded to order the other girls about behind the counter without a please or thank you. Debating whether or not to go again. We don’t appreciate that sort of behaviour.

We have a volunteer team who keep the site running throughout the year who work hard to provide a friendly welcoming atmosphere.

Just stopped here to break our journey North from Southwold. Lovely little cafe and brewery next door. Just tried the paninis which were very tasty. Good service and reasonably priced too.

This well-preserved eight-sail windmill is still operational.
Informative history boards and tour of the windmill.
The windmill is accessible via narrow original staircases, which is definitely not wheelchair accessible.
Alongside this windmill is a local microbrewery with many speciality ales available for sale.

For info - Wheelchair access is available into the ground floor of the windmill, so you get to see the inside of the mill and also milling on the wholemeal stones which are located on the ground floor. But yes, higher up in the mill is not possible for less mobile visitors.

I was staying a five minute drive away and am glad that I popped in to try 8 Sail Brewery at Heckington Windmill.
We sat outside and the ground were pleasant, so I can't comment much on the interior of the tap room but it looked nice enough. There was a good range of 5 or 6 beers on tap, maybe one cider, and a few of the group agreed that the Victorian porter was an excellent example of this type of drink. Over the course of the visit we were very impressed with everything on tap that we tried, and then bought a good few bottles to have later which turned out to be equally tasty.
We arranged for a 10 litre box of Fenman bitter which we could collect a few days later, and this started off good and got even better after 2 days; developing a nutty taste.
I've been to plenty of small breweries around the country, and while I'm supportive of their efforts, there are quite a few where the products lack anything distinctive about them.
8 sail wasn't one of these, and everything I've tried from them has been very good, and I may look into ordering from them in the future.

Yes, we are open every Sunday all year round. At this time of year we open from 12 to 4pm on Sundays.
