Before our first visit to Alice Holt I researched disabled facilities - blue badge FOC parking was noted ! - however this was not to be ! As a lot of the routes are unavailable to wheelchair/ scooter users I feel this is unfair . I was however super impressed wjth the staff and cafe facilities

We decided to visit Alice Holt due to our 2 year old being absolutely obsessed with the Gruffalo, so we decided to go on a "Gruffalo Hunt". Upon arrival, we noted that the parking charges were relatively high, but this wasn't really an issue for us as of course the trails etc are free of charge. We paid £7 for just under 3 hours', but a full days parking is £12 so not entirely unreasonable when no "entry fee" is charged.
The Gruffalo trail itself is very short and at adult speed I would say you could probably walk it in around 10 - 15 minutes, depending on how fast you're walking. Toddler speed, more like 30 minutes +. Definitely helped to encourage our non-confident 2 year old walker to walk more than usual!
We then went on to the playpark near to the visitors centre, which was very good and had plenty for little ones to play on.
We then decided to go and do the Superworm Trail. We didn't actually do the trail as such - we just did the walk. This was a much longer walk for which we took the buggy, but our girl did mostly walk and there was lots of stopping points for little ones which I thought was great. There was a few parks, some tunnels, a tree to climb up inside, an owl structure with a pole to slide down. Not much for our little one, but perfect for those with probably 4 or 5 + year olds.

We have been here several times over the last few years, and never fails to disappoint, a great place for the whole family, with lots to do for the kids. Good tea room with lots of outdoor seating.

Looks a great place to go, I was only there as a photographer for my daughter but facilities looked good.
However, we had to take 2 cars as we were meeting up from different places and car-parking charges was £24 for the 2 cars!!!!!!
Disgustingly high charges and we were not there overly long either, just Go Ape and grabbing a bite to eat!

I had a bad experience with one staff in the visitor’s centre. He is so unhelpful, unapologetic, very rude, very dismissive with a “I don’t give a damn cause I do not want to be here” face. Apparently everything that is lost and found in the forest gets shredded, be given to the charity without giving a chance for people to claim. I wonder what happens to pets if they are to go missing, will they get put down??? It’s a shame that I didn’t get his name but one thing for sure he is bald/shaved head. He shouldn’t be at the forefront of a visitor’s centre. Such a shame as the walk is great experience and the forest is beautiful. The lady in the Cafe is amazing though. What a contrast. She should be in the visitor’s centre with her bright smile and impeccable manner she.

Nice forest walks, however the Gruffalo trail has a very steep slope at the very start which is not wheelchair friendly unless you have a very strong person pushing. There may be an easier route but it is not sign posted.
As expected the easy access trail is in the forest so there are some uneven paths and a bit up and down in places but not too bad for pushing a wheelchair.
Although there is a changing places toilet there are no proper changing places signs even on the toilet door which is not terribly helpful.
Overall a good day old

An excellent course, I am terrified of heights and even though I only managed four out of the five courses, they were adrenaline pumping and challenging. At the final course I slipped, luckily the harness caught me, and I needed help, which the amazing go ape team did!! Without them I would still be stuck up the ladder 😂😂

Fabulous out door area, many forest walks to discover. Lovely wood play area for children. Great little cafe, loved the sports facilities (badminton, basket ball, table tennis) . My granddaughter loves the gruffalo trail. Only negative is there was no fruit supplied in the children’s lunch box, and for £5 it was very poor value for money. Otherwise this is a great day out in the open, great for children.

Am I expected to BBQ in the rain or will I get a refund?
I've booked a BBQ for my daughter's 2nd birthday but the weather forecast says to expect torrential rain. I can't expect babies and small children to attend in the pouring rain (and cooking on a BBQ doesn't sound like fun so can I expect a refund or does that not happen?
Would a 4 year old child be able to go around the trails on a scooter?

The walk around the trails is stoney in places and then a classic forest trail. The forest part should be ok but lots of tree roots could be tricky, the stoney parts I wouldn’t recommend a scooter on them. I didn’t see anyone with scooters there. The only concrete parts are by the cafe/entrance.
What are the opening times and closing please?

Not sure exactly but I think it shuts fairly early evening like 4.30/5pm perhaps.
