Have always loved this place. My granddaughters always love coming here as there are a lot of different playground activities. However I did find on this visit that some of the equipment seemed a little dated and was in need of a spruce up. Also it was more than slightly inconvenient that the public toilets were out of order and after talking to some regulars had been like this for quite a while.

What has happened?? Most of the park equipment on both sides of the park was not in use. The boys that were looked tired, tatty and I’m need of some TLC. Same for the green areas surrounding the actual park. The same thing was happening with Brunswick Park (also Sandwell council).
Also needs some sort of patrol, like the old fashioned ‘parky’. Bins totally over flowing with nappy bags strewn everywhere, bbqs going on all round the park despite signs saying not to.
I get councils are strapped for cash but come on, you pay to park and down of this money should be for the upkeep, otherwise it’s just another no-go place for kids.

Absolutely lovely afternoon at Forge Mill Farm! Baby chicks/ducklings and lambs galore. Really lovely young people working at the “hold a chick” area. Super value for money!

I paid a visit to the farm at Sandwell Valley and had a wonderful time. It was lovely seeing all the animals and farm equipment.

We went to see Santa in the valley, the actual experience was average but the day was terrible, we booked for 2.30pm, and was waiting around for nearly an hour, vince pie was really good, entertained the kids on his bike/plane hybrid, when we came out we went for food, that was another hour, the poor lady on the counter wasn’t very confident and on,y after we’d placed our orders did she say they weren’t doing breakfast sandwiches (no signs stating they stopped at a certain time) so ordered 2 potatoes and a club sandwich, this took an hour to come, dinner eaten we went to do the crafts, everywhere was closed and we were being booted out, opening hours were till 6pm, but we were being told to leave at 4.45pm! I won’t even come here again, or recommend it to anyone, absolute waste of money

Me and my family went to Sandwell Valley to visit santa and got greeted by a lovely lady that gave the kids a Christmas activity sheet. All was well, we completed the sheet, then went to do some crafts. When we entered I found the member of staff to be rude and unbothered. Her job was to greet the children and replenish the craft tables, she did neither. Where the crafts were being held was not only depressing but dangerous. The tables were situated with a step one side and a giant concrete feeding trough the other side with no place to sit and hardly any crafts to complete. I remember last year we came it was magical, there was fake bubble snow and the kids were having the time of their lives and the crafts were so much better, there were members of staff dressed as elves and they made the experience amazing for the kids, they were so attentative. This year was massively disappointing. The actual santa visit was great as always and although there was a big queue there were members of staff to occupy the kids. I also just want to say there was this absolutely AMAZING elf on a penny farthing, he was so funny and the kids loved him, he was a welcome new addition and saved the experience for us. Just really wish more attention to detail had been paid like last year.

LOVE WALKING THE DOGS DOWN THE VALLEY. ONLY DOWWNSIDE WERE THE TWO INCONSIDERATE PEOPLE ON ELECTRIC BIKES THAT SPED PAST ME.LUCKILY MY TWO SMALL DOGS WERE ON LEADS BUT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED.

Sandwell Valley Park is a lovely space, and a lot of good work has been and is being done to make it accessible and pleasant. Our visit today with a U3A walking group, however, was marred by encountering council workers who were mowing wildflower meadows and river banks on the river Tame near Forge Mill Farm in what can only be described as an act of environmental vandalism in a designated nature reserve. These meadows had been in full and beautiful bloom and buzzing with pollinators last week, now they are a wildlife desert. The workers told us they were instructed to mow because of 'flooding management measures', and I am not blaming them, but whoever ordered this needs to do some proper thinking - which landscape do you think holds more water for longer, one covered in lush vegetation or a surface closely mown? And just in case you felt that the workers needed to be occupied, they could have more usefully uprooted the invasive Himalayan balsam along the river. Very disappointing!

Really disappointing easter visit. It has so much potential but it looks like they hardly put any effort into the event. My 16 month old loves it but would not go when he is older as not worth the money you pay for an adult let alone a child. I would just avoid at Easter, there was not much there. And the cafe staff are useless, waited over 30 mins for 2 breakfasts, the waitresses just not got a clue what they are doing. Such a shame

Absolutely disgusted with how they can charge £8 per child and end up with a pathetic chocolate bar,the only animals there was rabbits total waste of money, as most of the outdoor area was blocked of. to hear the girl who was on the door collecting the tokens to visit the easter bunny ask another parent about her lips having filler in was beyond me. Nothing special about this place what so ever you get more for your money goin to the actual sandwell farm which we resorted to going to after.

are you allowed to take a kayak on Swan pool.. me and wife wanna do it.. or does anyone know where its ok.. I dont want to join a sailing club or anything yet.. just wanna see if we like it

Wouldn’t have thought so but I’m not a dog owner and I’ve seen people let dog do things they shouldn’t do like be off leads in certain places

Yes there are parking charges. Nominal and the charges are on the Sandwell council website.

How do you find the spot for a dog to swim at swan pool, away from the birds/ geese? Any help out there???

It’s a pretty big expanse of water. I would guess you would recognise a spot when you see it. Most of the edge is accessible. As long as your dog isn’t a ‘chaser’ I can’t see it as a problem
