Wonderful collection of farm machinery, household items, information about times past, with information on each. Bonus was the ride on the miniature train. Well done, I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

If you want a trip down memory lane then you should visit Pearn's Steam World. Its an extensive collection of steam engines, stationery motors, tractors, etc. from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection was assembled by the Pearn brothers from machinery used in their 80 year involvement in the farm contracting business and sourced from other agriculture and rural businesses throughout Tasmania. Exciting for me to view equipment similar to that used on the family farm in the 1950's. Happy memories. The display is extensive, both under cover and outdoors. Enthusiastic volunteers are on hand to answer questions, each exhibit is well signed and the introductory brochure contains details and history of a selection of the major display items. Enjoyed a ride on the mini train before we departed.

Great BUT you need to advertise or display that you have TRAIN RIDES. I think if you advertised this and had it well displayed I stress of hiding behind bushes you would get A LOT MORE FAMILIES - we have driven past many many times but didn’t go in as we thought it would be too boring for our son. We all really enjoyed it. Keep up the great work friendly volunteers

Went here during the week and spent 2 hours wandering around and looking at the machines
Great people to rank to more than happy to spend the time exploring different items each
Kids might get bored quick but if the train is running that will help keep them amused
Great to see that people are serious about restoring and keeping heritage alive

This site boasts the biggest collection of Steam Engines in the Southern Hemisphere. It is very prominent on the main road as you drive through Westbury...so it's easy to find. There is also heaps of car parking available.
I arrived late in the day and I was the only person there at the time, so I paid my entry fee and headed in. Have you ever wondered what it would be like for a toy doll...say Barbie or Ken, to be thrown into the toy box at the end of the day... ??!? Well this is what it's a bit like. Although it felt like it was a young boy's toy box... all things mechanical. :)
It's really quite interesting learning about the history of steam and there is a massive range as they promised on the advertising. The volunteers were really happy to answer any questions I had ...in fact half my time here was spent talking to them about their latest project.
And why the name? Pearn? The Pearn family agricultural contracting business operated for over 80 years in the Westbury district.
It makes for some interesting time spent... but allow yourself at least a few hours here ... as there is a hell of a lot to look at.

Very cool selection of old tractors and farm equipment. Steam powered and fuel powered. Nice people there to answer questions or find the answer if they don't know. Low price. Nice time.

Any machinery enthusiast will be fascinated by the large collection of vintage machinery. I could have spent all day there.

Great little place with a lot of machinery restored with fact sheets. Easy to locate and most is under cover.

I admit to being fascinated by steam engines but this exceeded my expectations. Geoff made us welcome and was happy to chat and show us around. Apart from many fantastic steam engines there were items from his family history, a rotating fridge and a washing machine that uses a mechanical dolly to name a couple. Dave was also happy to chip in with some history on the Harry Ferguson tractors. A train ride around the grounds was fun for the kids (not ours). A very interesting couple of hours and well worth a visit.

This collection and display show insight by the Pearn family to preserve the equipment that helped make the nation. A lot of the equipment has been restored some is used at some events and some is under restoration. A huge job but well worth the visit, there is also a scaled down train ride the circuits the buildings for the kids but we didn't see it operating.
Worth the visit to see so much of our mechanical history in one place.
