Kitschy reminder of the Longaberger Basket Company. The building still stands and can be toured, though we just drove by for a quick look. A shade of what it used to be, the area is in a bit of disrepair and obviously still attempting to be sold. Even though, still worth a swing by if you are in the area.

Impressive. We were there in October but missed the tour. It is quite unique. We understand the company's old baskets show up in flea markets and antique stores, And we heard the building will be made into a luxury hotel. That is good news

It’s a building.
It’s honestly pretty cool if you’re a dork like me or into interesting architecture or used to collect Longaberger baskets.

OK...this site is off the main I-70 thoroughfare, but hwy 16 is a MUCH more scenic and enjoyable route. If you are gojng to be site-seeing, get off the interstate!

Yes, this building is abandoned and starting to show some exterior wear and tear: but it is still awe inspiring to see. This giant basket is 7 stories tall (plus the height of the massive handles) and easily towers over anything else nearby, including all of the nearby trees. The fact that the paint on the outside is chipping away and the parking lot is overgrown will not take anything away from the sense of WHOA you get when you see this appear over the horizon, or when you stand in front of it like an ant in front of a giant.
Not much to do here except admire it and take a picture; also, when we visited the grassy areas near the parking lot were infested with very painful and annoying biting flies.

This is a review for the Longaberger building in Newark. The now-unoccupied building of the bankrupt Longaberger company is an architecturally attractive building visible on Highway 16 in Newark. When we stopped by, the building was closed, but we drove by the building in the parking lot and enjoyed imagining all the people working in the building at one time. The building is a vivid and sad example of Change is constant, and This too shall pass.
If you are in the area, certainly stop by to look at the building built in the shape of a basket.

Heritage Ohio, the current owner of the distinctive former Longaberger company headquarters, offered a special tour inside the abandoned building this fall. More than a thousand people bought tickets online in advance or simply showed up at the door on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It was nice to see some life in the unique building again, and funds raised went to restoring and maintaining the building. I have always seen the big basket from the outside looking in and wondered what it was like to look out from the inside. Well, there is a marble tiled atrium where you can look up to see the basket handles overlapping high six stories above. The tour only covered the first and second floors so we didn't get to see Dave's office. It was still interesting and I really hope they can find a use for it so is no longer a basket case. This USED to be such a beautiful, unique, building. It has now been abandoned, and it doesn't appear that any upkeep is being done to it. A huge disappointment. If you are out of the area and want a unique photo, you could take one, but that's about it.

If close by, it’s worth the drive to go take a picture. It’s not every day you see a 4 story basket. Other than a picture nothing else to see or do there.

This is a building that can be seen from a distance, especially the basket handles. Since the building is no longer being used we have not had a chance to tour the building, however we did tour the Longaberger Basket Company and see how the beautiful baskets are made. Since the death of the owner the company has been going down hill and I believe the company has actually closed. I read about how this basket building came to be built and it is very interesting. At the height of the company, the owner drew out an ideal basket building on a napkin and an architect crew up the plans. Inside the building is an atrium from the ground floor to the top of the 7th floor. There was also a movie theater for employees and families.
