‪Interesting site honoring Neil Armstrong who grew up in Ohio and took his first airplane ride in Warren. The centerpiece is a half-size replica of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module in which Armstrong landed on the moon in July 1969. Tribute is also paid to astronaut Ron Parise, a native of Warren, who flew on two Space Shuttle missions. Truly an inspirational site for children who aspire to fly and for those of us who remember when Apollo 11 landed on the moon and Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon!‬

‪We were pleasantly surprised at the lovely set-up of this outdoor exhibit of Neil Armstong's flight capsule to the moon. Historical plaques offer insight to the men involved in space exploration. Surrounded by an iron fence, it has two benches and explanatory pamphlets in a mail-box.

This is the site where 6-year old Neil Armstrong -- later the first man to walk on the moon -- took his first ride in an airplane. At that time, it was the Warren Airstrip. The site is marked by replicas of all of the aircraft in which Armstrong flew, including replicas of Apollo 11's Saturn V rocket and a half-scale Lunar Module.

Local volunteers also created a mock lunar surface under the lander memorial, complete with craters and foot prints.

Parking is free and beside McDonald's. I am not sure why the website mentions times of operation since it was outside and the fence is low. Even though there was a gate, you can see the whole thing regardless.

Worth a stop whether you have children or not. It is historical and educational.‬
