‪The museum is very well worth it to spend time inside. It also has a replica dugout so that you can see how they lived in the late 1800s, early 1900s. Outside is a memorial for several of the old pioneers that settled there and help create Greer County as it is now.
While there make sure that that you eat at the Hamburger Inn on the East side of the square.‬

‪It's worth the stop just to see the life size longhorn statues in front of the museum. This place is huge. It is in an old building that is 3 stories tall. The elevator and a/c were broken when we were there so we got quite a workout. There were numerous rooms filled with exhibits. The museum covers Greer County, probably the most unusual county in Oklahoma since at one time it was part of Texas. A friendly gentleman showed us all around.‬

‪This is an excellent museum of Old Greer County, TX. It has a real dugout house and the 1929 Fire Engine that kids love. I may be partial since this is my home town but it is very well done in the old hospital building with a 40's dental office, birthing unit and nursery. Furniture from local homes, hotels, the small town schools. Very interesting! This whole area is very historic!‬

‪I grew up in Mangum, so I've been to the museum countless times. But after seeing a review on this site from someone out of the country, I was inspired to visit once again on my recent trip back home.
They now have a gentleman who walks thru the museum with you and is very knowledgeable about more than you will care to know about. It was educational for sure.
If you want a taste of the pioneer days and "old school" (quite literally), you need to put this place on your "to do" list. I really enjoyed the opportunity to walk into the rooms & get up close to some of the artifacts. In prior visits, you mostly stood at the door of each room and looked in.
Runs on donations, so its affordable for anyone to enjoy. ‬

‪This museum is crammed full of exhibits, from an old-fashioned wheelchair over 100 years old, a fire engine from the 1920s to a collection of salt and pepper shakers! The museum is run by volunteers, so there is a lot of work-in-progress, but that's what makes it interesting because other museums looks so stage-managed by comparison. This museum is far more authentic, and each room seems to bring its own surprise. There is a large collection of photos all over the museum, many of which are from school days or sports'teams. When I visited there had been a downpour of rain leading to flooding in the basement and some of the books had been damaged. I was given a personal tour by one of the volunteers who was highly knowledgeable about the artifacts. This was one of the most interesting museums on my trip to Oklahoma, and I'd say not to miss it if you're in western Oklahoma.‬
