‪It is Free. A nice lady welcomed us and explained the museum’s layout. There was a section on the Seminols, an art gallery and military wing. Beyond the gift shop was an old town showing historical items from old Wewoka.

The Seminol exhibit was interesting. There was a lot of information on the Seminol Indian Wars in the early 1800s and the tribe’s history.

The military wing was nice but not very informative. The text told about the wars but there was nothing explaining the memorabilia on display. They had a good exhibit on the Seminole code talkers.‬

‪I I hot goosebumps reading the legend of the snake clan. What a lovely history the Seminole Nation has. The Seminole's are one of the five civilized tribes. The museum has incorporated bricks and wood on the walls, to be reminiscent of the way buildings were built back in the day. This museum is worth a trip to Wewoka. ‬

‪This museum is a hidden jewel. We visited off a highway sign. Not far off I40, and well worth the trip. They have an amazing collection of historical Seminole items as well as a nice collection of western art. The volunteers who help the visitors are very well versed in the history and a joy to have show you around. They love answering questions, and seem to really "know their stuff". There was a visiting collection of art work from people who have graduated for the local high school which was amazing. There is a lot of talent coming out of that area of Oaklahoma. The visiting collections evidently change. The gift shop is especially nice, and has good literature about the Seminoles available. I hope word of this musuem gets out as it should be a must see for anyone visiting the area or going out I40. Well worth the trip!‬

‪Most of the Indians who once lived in Florida, the Seminoles, were ethnically cleansed from that state and sent to Indian Territory (Oklahoma). This museum tells their story. It has interesting exhibits on evolving Seminole culture, artwork and military history. There is also a great gift shop‬

‪This Museum is a work in progress. The interior is being re-done, but the actual artifacts are impressive. The history of this Indian Nation is fascinating given they have members in Oklahoma, and in Mexico and Texas where the US Government requested the Nation go into these areas of lawlessness and bring civil stability. The Nation was successful in this endeavor. The Seminoles were not participants in the "Trail of Tears" from Florida unlike the other members of the "Five Civilized Tribes." The Seminoles were afforded special treatment by the US Government because of the Tribe's ferocity in battle and they were transported through Louisiana and Texas to Oklahoma. We were told the Seminoles never lost a war. Seminoles were used as "Code Talkers" in World War II and the many military honors afforded this small tribe's members are well documented here, with the individuals honored (their uniforms on display). When the renovation of the Museum is concluded this will be a fine museum. The gift shop had a fine selection of items. So, this Museum will improve and I recommend a visit.‬
