Cottage Grove is a lovely. vibrant community and well worth a visit. The Bookmine on Main Street is a treasure and the food at Stacy's Covered Bridge restaurant is excellent. Try to visit on the 3rd weekend of the month when the Cottage Grove vintage carousel is in operation (check first to be sure).

Cottage Grove is famous for hosting the filming of a few movies such as Buster Keaton's "The General" a scene in both "Stand by Me" and "Animal House," and several more less than famous films. The historic district celebrates this heritage as well as the loggers, gold miners, and dreamers who made the town possible.

Hard to believe almost a century ago the Little General was filmed nearby and murals capture history. Lots of fine little antique stores and restaurants as well.

Walked from my hotel about 2 miles away to this historic downtown. Lovely shops and friendly folk even in the midst of COVID.

Down town Cottage Grove is a nice place to spend an afternoon shopping and checking out the local flavor. Many places to eat and things to see. The past few years have seen many changes. Come see whats New (old) in Cottage Grove.

"Cottage Grove" is aptly named. South of the pretty Main Street area near the Coastal Fork of the Willamette River, we found an abundance of attractive cottages, bungalows, and other residences. I'd recommend driving around slowly to get oriented, then taking a leisurely walk to admire this lovely neighborhood.

Cute small town. There are several murals on buildings downtown-all done very nice. We went to Bohemian Park to to bike the Row Creek Trail. This was very nice place to find along our west coast trip.
