Alpacas at Marquam Hill is a perfect way to spend the afternoon! They have many alpacas of all ages, and lots of babies! The owners are incredible knowledgeable about all things alpaca: raising and breeding, personalities, heritage, Peruvian wild alpacas, ratings different qualities of wool. We enjoyed feeding a few of the alpacas, and saw first hand their different personalities. Very kid friendly outing - the alpacas are so gentle:)
There is also a lovely shop selling beautiful scarves, gloves, jackets, blankets, stuffed animals made of alpaca wool, to name a few.
Easy to find and plenty of parking.

We took advantage of sunny skies to pop in - no reservation for a tour, but we were still treated like honored guests - enjoyed feeding the alpacas, and chatting with Bill about their ranch. We ended up buying several amazing alpaca goods - hat, scarf, kids gifts - we were all very happy to spend an hour plus at Marquam HIll.

An alpaca is NOT a llama and it was neat to get to know a little bit about this animal. Our 3 year old enjoyed feeding them and we enjoyed the quality products in the gift shop. We ALL enjoyed watching the pigs root around! Our host was super nice and informative...very happy we wtopped in!

What a great surprise to find on the road to Silver Falls State Park. The owners are very friendly and love to share their knowledge about Alpacas. Worth a stop! They also have a fantastic shop with all things Alpaca!

The alpacas we're amazing and the owners were so nice and very willing to tell us all about the animals. We stayed longer than planned because we were talking to the woman about all things alpacas.

Thanks for all of the education on the Alpaca. My daughter and I had such a great time learning about them, feeding them, and just watching them. Thanks for the memorable experience and would highly recommend going here.

I did an internet search for weird things to do with n Portland. 45 mins later I’m walking around the Alpaca Ranch with One of the owners Jen! I needed a unique experience and I found one! I learned a lot about these animals and was able to capture video of myself feeding them. Super cute and since I’m a big kid… I loved it! I even purchased a pair of Alpaca socks and Alpaca stickers from the gift shop!

Delightful, hands-on experience with the Alpacas at this ranch: we got to feed them out of our hands with food purchased from the ranch, although, there is no cost to just visit the ranch and the Alpacas. The Alpacas enjoyed eating the food as much as we enjoyed feeding and petting them. The owners are friendly and informative and seem to enjoy sharing their love of the Alpacas with visitors. There is also a lovely gift shop which provides goods made from the wool of various types of Alpacas. A lovely experience for adults and kids of all ages!

Of my entire first trip to Portland and the surrounding area, this was definitely my favorite and most memorable part. I found this opportunity through these great reviews, and I can confirm how wonderful the alpacas, cats, and owners at Marquam Hill Ranch are. The owners are very educated about their alpacas and genuinely care for each of them as they share stories and facts. Not to mention, they do an EXCELLENT job of staying environmentally conscious in many ventures including a reduction of plastic waste use associated with the grooming and sorting of fleece. The owners instructed how to properly interact with and feed an alpaca, and the alpacas themselves were very sweet. Though the tour had been booked the day we went, the owners kindly offered to make space for my family of four; they were also very flexible with their tour in that you can participate as you like, and they can accommodate their activities as needed. I would easily come back here to learn more about and interact with the alpacas for a private tour. The drive from Portland is beyond worth it!

I am sorry that I did not get back to you earlier. There is no cost for you to visit our alpacas. We can give you a short education about the alpacas and then let you put your hands on them. You can feed them for five dollars. We also have a gift shop with lots of great alpaca products for our alpacas and some from Peru. If you want more than that, we have an intensive tour that is about 75 minutes. The first 45 minutes is in the barn learning about alpacas and how we care for them. The final 30 minutes you watch the.moms get fed, then the one yearmolds eatnout of your lap and then you can help halter train. It's a lot of fun! The intensive tour is 16 dollars per person and requires a reservation. You can call Jennifer at 503.407.3699. We are booked out about two weeks. Please let me know if you have any questions.
