Well kept. Their Memorial Day Ceremony is HEART felt. Taps on a bugle, solo Star Bangle Banner, carnations to place on veteran's graves are just some of the high points.

My father was a ww11 vet, as was my mother. I try to take him a bouquet, if I can. Father is at city veiw, as are other relatives.

Walking around the cemetery gives you a good sense of the history of this town. We read a lot of the grave markers, and enjoyed the trees giving us shade. Lots of flowers in the children's section.

We were expecting more unique monuments and gravestones but didn't really see as many as we thought would be here

We love walking around cemeteries; reading headstones and talking about the history of the area. This is a large cemetery on a bit of a hill, well maintained, just south of downtown.

If you like Old grave markers from bacxk to the late 1800's this the place for you. They come in all sizes and shapes. Several Famous people are layed to rest here.

It wasn't until I moved to Salem, Oregon that I realized I am a Taphopile....I love exploring cemeteries. The Salem Pioneer Cemetery was the first one I visited in 2013, when I learned that a certain grave site was haunted. So I had to rush out and find out for myself. Yep..I did get a Voice Recording, and that sparked my interest in cemeteries. Especially old cemeteries. As you reach the cemetery, the old section is to your right. This section of the cemetery has graves of Salem's early pioneers. Another interesting incident, I picked up a flower scent from a certain grave. No flowers were nearby, just pine trees. Interesting. I have returned to the Pioneer Cemetery many times. It is a beautiful place to visit the first settlers of Salem, Oregon.

It was like going to a park but even better. I felt at peace and it was a spiritual experience. I want to go back.
