This was a great way to spend a quiet afternoon. We arrived around 1:00pm and parking was just about full, but there were still plenty of kayaks and rowboats available for rent. The water was pretty cold (no one was swimming) and such a beautiful blue-green color. Kayaking around the edges of the lake was the best part because that's where it's crystal clear. It was so amazing to see all the the trees preserved underwater. We did one full side of the lake in about an hour and a half before having to leave, so it is definitely feasible to do the entire lake in one day. You can also "park" your kayak in one of the small inlets to rest and have a snack. Or, grab some lunch in the general store where you rent equipment.

A group of us took kayaks to this gorgeous blue lake near the Belknap Hot Springs where we were staying. The water was calm and it was easy to paddle. We noticed that the fishing was good, and groups of divers were exploring below the surface. We visited during mid-October and the leaves were showing off autumn colors. The restaurant was not serving hot food but there were snacks and some clothing for sale. We paid $5 per vehicle to launch the kayaks. This was a wonderful, mellow kayaking experience.

Super cool lake to visit. Took the drone up for some video and pictures. The view from 100’ up is stunning. Using my phone to post this review so I don’t have any photos to share.

Clear Lake is a beautiful place to visit and get out on a lake with no motors! The staff are friendly and helpful. I just would not stay in a cabin unless you want to really rough it.

Must Visit!! This beautiful lake is fed by snow melt and diligently preserved. No motorized crafts and the water is waaaaay too cold for a dip! If you’re a diver, fisherman or casual tourist this is a treat! I highly recommend the row boat rentals! An hour goes by fast so if you aren’t experienced it’s worth the additional time to see more of the lake.
This is a great stop for friends, families or couples, adventure and romance in one stop!

A little hard to get to because of the (lack of) quality of the road-but worth the trip. Suitable for all kinds of non motorized watercraft and a very nice trail around the lake.

Take the Clear Lake loop trail to enjoy spectacular views of a clear, vivid blue lake. Be sure to look for 3000 year old stumps in the near-freezing 120' deep lake where the forest was submerged when the lake was formed. Mind blowing!

The lake itself is clear and blue and beautiful. Service at the little snack bar was super slow, but we got one of the best BLT sandwiches we've had in awhile. We came here to ride our bikes on the trail that circles the lake. The trail along the front side of the lake was super fun. The trail on the backside of the lake is unridable because of the lava fields you have to climb up and down. We had to push our bikes a lot. They really should say not to bring bikes on the back section.

Gorgeous lake! We were so excited about boating but we could not for the life of us find the rental area. We drove and drove, no signs. Such a shame. Would definitely come back better planned since there's zero cell reception

The aqua serene waters that form the head waters of the mighty McKenzie River . You can view 3,000 year old trees trapped beneath the water. No motor boats here- but you can paddle one they rent.

Is there cell phone reception? Not that I plan on being on my phone much. It's just good to know. I have Verizon by the way. Thank you!

How much is it to rent a row boat or kayak? Do they rent them for the day or is there a time limit?

the elevation there is 3,012 ft. u can have warm days but the nights get chilly during the summer.

They have rowboats for rent, a small cafe, 2 launch ramps, cabins, great level hiking trails and a nice campground. No powered boats of any kind.

No. This is a pristinely clear high mountain lake formed by a lava flow. You can view a petrified forest beneath the surface while rowing a boat! Beautiful area adjacent to a lovely campground named Coldwater Creek. There is a hiking trail around the entire lake and a small rustic lodge at which boat rentals and basic food and groceries can be purchased. Enjoy!
