My husband and I were in the area and we saw the Cross from the road and of course we had to stop. I've heard and saw pictures of the Cross for years, but for some reason never visited it. You can only drive so far and then walk the rest of the way. It is mostly an uphill hike, so be prepared. Of course, you can stop anywhere along the way to rest if you have to.
The view from the top is amazing. Seeing the 60 ft cross and reading the history is humbling. There are benches at the top to sit and reflect. The view is captivating as well, especially on a clear day.
Even if you hike halfway to see the Cross, it is well worth the visit.

We hiked the half king trail which ended at the Jumonville Cross. Very interesting and historical area. The cross was awesome and the views amazing. Had a wonderful time.

This is a very beautiful and very special place. A great place for day or sunset. The path to the top is paved and there’s plenty of seating at the top to enjoy the view

A friend native to the Laurel Highlands mentioned climbing to the foot of the Cross with her cousin and the great view that it afforded. It was quite a climb, I had to stop a few times to rest before continuing to the top. Thankfully, benches are provided at various points of the climb. Nice.

This area hold SO MUCH American history, and Jumonville is no exception. The cross itself is amazing at 60' tall and overlooking the valley below. One can only imagine what the area looked like for then Lt. General George Washington and his troops as they waged a battle with French Canadian Jumonville and his company that ultimately lead to the American Revolution.
The entire area is chalked full of American history and if you didn't know about it, you would pass right by none the wiser.

View 3 states and 7 counties from one of the most gorgeous, relaxing places in Fayette County. You can actually see the massive Cross from the city below. The views are breathtaking. As you walk up the paved road, you will enjoy beautiful scenery and nature. There are benches available to relax, or bring a blanket for a picnic. This is just off of the National Road, and a minute from Jumonville Glen- the location of where the Revolutionary War was started. This is an upscale property that is well maintained and ends up being way more than you expect. Take a date, take the kids, take your dog.

Whether you are inspired by the cross or not, this is a must-see if you love beautiful vistas. With a view on a clear day of up to 50 miles (you can see Pittsburgh at times), it's worth the short climb. You can drive up to about a 1/2 mile of the cross. However, the climb to the top of hill will definitely give anyone a good cardio workout. If you decide to visit and are coming from route 40, make sure to turn when you see the Christian camp sign. Otherwise, you'll drive right by it because it's tough to see when coming from the south.

Before we left for a day of touring, I found this stop on TripAdvisor. This was a great stop. There is a steep hill to climb, but the view of the cross is magnificent. The views of the surrounding countryside were also great. Well worth a stop.

This is a must see if you re coming to the area! Easter Sunrise service was great-have been twice! Also great place to let kids run off some steam-they have playground equipment.
Walking up to the cross is DEF a challenge-steep but worth it once you get to the top...,,the view is worth it!!!

Before walking up to the cross, we visited the museum. This place has quite a history! We stopped at the simple graveyard where several of the orphans who had lived there following the Civil War died. Then, we walked up to the cross. There were benches along the way, to be able to sit and meditate. Finally at the top. Awe inspiring, to say the least. This brief visit allowed us time to reflect upon our own relationship with the LORD. We returned to our car as the sun was setting.

Is there any way to drive up to the Cross? I'm disabled and wouldn't be able to walk up the hill.

Vehicles are not allowed on the road. However, there is a sign at the road's entrance stating the rules of access. I'm not sure if there's an exception for this or not, but I believe you can.
