Our guide was very enthusiastic, knew what he was talking about and made the experience of the caverns decent. It is such a cool place to explore and learn about for a decent price. Although I could barely hear him due to the children screaming or was focused on their behaviors, he did a good job trying to grab their attention. I would have enjoyed it more if our group did not have 7 kids under the age of 5 in it, as all they wanted to do was touch the rocks, scream, and run around the caves, leaving me with a headache by the end of the tour.
I think that a good solution to this would have certain tours for kids under the age of 5 to be on, as it kind of ruined the experience of the caves for me or to just not allow children under the age of 5 into the caves.

Another great thing to do other than your history museums. Price friendly, not far from popular places and really cool to see. The tour guides are great. They all have their own way of telling the details of the tour. There are 72 steps down to the cravens but don’t forget you have to go back up them when done. Overall a cool place to visit and an interesting place to see.

Excellent place to visit with family and even with kids. The path is well illuminated and the guided tour was terrific! Michael provided all the interesting information we needed to enjoy even more our day. It was awesome!

I loved this tour. The tour guide was great, and the kids (9 and 11 year old boys) as well as myself found it fascinating. And it was not too strenuous. Perfect for a one hour tour.
The gift shop had a nicely curated collection of items for sale, and occupied us nicely while we were waiting for our tour to start.
Didn't love that there was a 4% surcharge for credit cards. And the emphasis on tipping the tour guide (though that has become the usual for tours like this these days -- so this wasn't unexpected, and was less in-your-face than other places I've seen) but overall I highly recommend this.

A delightful experience, to be sure. We picked up the brochure from a local hotel we were overnighting in. Rocked up the next day and took the tour. A very pleasant afternoon spent looking at one of nature's marvellous creations. My partner loves rock formations and this tour was right up his alley. It was such a cold day that day that we actually WARMED UP inside the caves. Our tour guide was very nice and told us so many interesting things about the caves and the surrounds. There are some steps involved so be prepared ~ you will have to walk down 70+ steps to the entrance of the caves then walk back up to the parking lot when you are done. Inside the caves there are few steps and the walking is easy.

But a fun walk with lots to hear about. In addition to the nice tour they have some cute animals you can visit with. Someone help them set up a venmo so they can get tips from cashless people.

Amazing!!! Such a great time for people of all ages.Make sure to bring a jacket as well and possibly waterproof shoes. Lots of stairs but otherwise an amazing time would definitely go again!

Great, informative cave tour. Chris was an excellent guide. For anyone mobility-challenged, aside from the 70+ stairs down to the cavern (and, as Chris said, what goes down must come up), walking in the cave was level and easy. For the claustrophobic, the narrowest corridors were short and easily passable and for the tall there were very few places where ducking was required. Most of the time in the caves was spent in a series of large caverns. All very beautiful and full of history. Worth every penny.

If you are visiting Lancaster and are looking for something to do that isn’t eating, or shopping, then I would recommend this attraction.
It is advertised as a 45 minute tour that went over an hour. Michael the tour guide was entertaining and informative and obviously passionate about his job.
The cavern was amazing. So beautiful and interesting. The main building is mostly a gift shop. I would have appreciated a little more in terms of exhibits or a gallery of some kind. But this is a small attraction with probably limited resources. I was completely satisfied with the tour and what was offered.
Be warned: pay attention to the information on the web site - which you should definitely read. The cavern is wet, and muddy. And dirty. Nature can be like that. Watch your head - there are paths but you will be bending and stooping. It can be slippery so wear boots. Wear something you wont mind getting a little dirty. Follow the tour guides’ instructions.
It will be worth it, my wife and I had a great time.

We're thinking about doing this with our 4 and 6 year olds while we're visiting Hersheypark. The tour itself is about 45 minutes. How much time should we plan for our overall visit if we do the petting zoo and gem mining as well?

It really depends on how your children are feeling that day and how focused they are. It also depends on how big a bucket you get for the gem part. I'd estimate at least 45 - 60 minutes for both, with up to another hour of wiggle room depending on how they feel.

Indian Echo Caverns are open 31 December from 10 AM to 4 PM. The only days they close all year are Christmas and New Years. Adults are $18 (12 years old and older, $16 for seniors. $10 for children under 12. They also honor AAA and military discounts. Enjoy and Happy New Year.
