The alpaca experience is not to be missed. We bought it as a gift for the grandchildren (who we accompanied because of their age). The four alpacas are such lovely animals, each with their own personalities and it was such a pleasure to be able to learn more about them. After some instruction we were able to feed them and harness them ready to go off on a walk. Even on a grey day with showers it’s hard not to be impressed by the beautiful scenery of the park itself and the views across the water to Plymouth, Torpoint and beyond to the moors in both Cornwall and Devon. As well as that you have an alpaca for company! The kids loved it and didn’t stop talking about it for ages after, the two adults were pretty much the same. Of course in order to make this work well a good host is needed and Ben was exceptional, this is someone who clearly knows and loves his animals well and is good at his job. Don’t forget to try the Farriers for a coffee after.

Christmas wonder nights- just got back and our 2 children loved it. We arrived for our time slot to see Santa- we did have to wait for this but then had a good amount of time with the super friendly and authentic Santa- plus no ‘photos’ for you to buy, just an offer to take them for you on your own device. The night walk was excellent, if you’re after loud and bright this isn’t it, it’s full of lights, elves and fairies and searching for them using the guide book and tucking them off all kept our 2- 5&8, plus me and their father- occupied for well over an hour. Magical potions with a special potion to take away was such a lovely experience for the children at the end of the trail- with lights, smoke and magic! I was watching all the children’s faces and they were enthralled, it was the perfect length and got them all involved. Then a pulled pork ban and hot chocolate- arrived 5:30, left 8:30. My 5 year old has just said ‘best Christmas trip ever’ and asked to go back- and we’ve done a fair few! It is lower key than previous years but fewer people booked in in each time slot so you aren’t rushed and can really enjoy the beautiful lights and little details of the characters in the gardens. It was such a lovely evening and the staff were super friendly and helpful- even when we were keeping them at the end. Would definitely recommend for a fun, beautiful, calm, open air event for children- there were older ones there who looked like they were really enjoying it too- I we saw children up to 12 years old. A big thank you to the team.

What a amazing experience!!! We did Alpaca walking...we met our knowledgeable friendly funny guide Ben and then we met the Alpacas...Henry, Harry, Lusty and landy ❤️ we had a quick run down from Ben and then straight into the feeding and even got to do the poop cleaning and then we harnessed the Alpacas and off we went walking! The surroundings are spectacular and the views are amazing!!! We also got to see a herd of deer and a stag such a treat!!!! A must do experience...would definitely recommend and we can't wait to visit the Alpacas again!!! A real treat!!!! A proper family treat or a excellent Christmas or birthday present... massive thank you to Ben x

We've walked through the park a number of times in the past, but normally an end to end walk from Kingsand to Cremyll. This time we had a proper wander around. Lots of trails for all abilities and, something I didn't realise, was there's a small cafe / takeaway and shop in the courtyard area next to the house. We'd already planned to have a lunch at the pub in Cremyll, but we'd probably eat here next time. A nice spot, and the food looked good!

Visited the hall and park today for the first time. The tour of the hall was exceptional, led by our guide Bradley, who was brilliant, taking us through the history of the place and it’s people with interesting facts and insights. We aim to visit again, hopefully in summer, to take in the large grounds and gardens. Well worth a visit.

We stayed at Horseshoe Cottage, situated within the grounds of Mount Edgcumbe Park. The cottage itself was once the laundry of the big house and is a light and airy two bedroomed property backing onto the courtyard containing The Farriers Cafe. The cottage was warm and spotlessly clean with a woodburner and central heating. It was also amazingly quiet.
During our stay we walked to nearby Cawsands over the coastal path, enjoying stunning sea views, with enough of a challenge in terms of terrain to feel like we'd done something but not enough to be daunting. Cawsands itself is a charming village with plenty of options for eating and drinking. Mount Edgcumbe's grounds are fascinating and date back several centuries with memorable views of the estuary. Breakfast at the nearby Canteen is a definite must - delicious food, great atmosphere and well-priced.
Staff at Mount Edgcumbe were friendly and welcoming, making our short stay a warm and memorable one. We'll be back!

Absolutely adore this place , so beautiful, it’s free to go around the whole area The gardens are a real joy at anytime of the year. The toilets are exemplary. The Farriers cafe is exemplary. Best coffee ,fabulous food , cakes are the best. With all the fledgling businesses it’s a shining example of the energy and passion this place still holds for the local community and visitors to the area. Whether it be a survival course or weaving they will accommodate your needs. Beautiful holiday let’s
The orangery cafe , the food is exceptional, service exemplary , check out their fish and chip photo ! Beautiful Orange trees to be admired. The national Camelia collection, a folly , Segway…it’s all here

We came to the house for a guided tour as a birthday present for my mum. Our tour guide, who’s name I unfortunately did not get, was exceptional. And even more impressive as he mentioned it was only his 3rd week in the role.
He was kind, patient and very knowledgeable. He is a credit to the team! We’ll definitely be back again

An unplanned and unexpected tour of Mount Edgcumbe House turned out to be very interesting thanks to our tour guides Michelle and Bradley who entertained us with their knowledge of the properties history delivered in a lighthearted way with occasional humour. I would recommend this tour.

The gardens and views are lovely but I need to talk about the chips. I was looking forward to them but I hadn’t prepared myself to be served the best chips of my life. I don’t know what they did to make them so good but they real good. Triple cooked perhaps? Keep doing what you’re doing.

Has anyone stayed in Lady Emma’s Cottage in the grounds ? Would like to know what the stairs are like inside for someone with mobility issues. Tried asking the staff there but they aren’t very knowledgeable and could do with a couple of photos before I can book it. Thanks for any help

Yes, dogs are allowed in the park and you will see a lot of them there.

Re question about dogs: I Have seen dog walkers in the park, but be sure to keep dogs on leads where there are sheep on the higher ground - I’m sure this is well signposted. Also seen dogs on leads in and outside areas of stable cafe and orangery.

Is it OK to scatter cremated ashes in the higher quieter areas of this spectacular parkland?

Google "scattering ashes law", albeit I can't imagine a reasonable landowner would object!
We are thinking about taking our dogs for a walk around mount edgecombe are they allowed near any off the eating establishes as we would like lunch

Sorry I may be a bit late, but missed the question somehow.
Yes the park has many seated areas for picnics. There are also a couple of cafes by the Segway area behind the house. Also there is the orangery restaurant. The whole area offers great views of Plymouth Sound and the coastline down as far as the Lizard on a good day.
