This is a wildlife park dedicated to conservation and educating the public. This park is the source for antivenom to treat dangerous snake and spider bites. We truly enjoyed seeing the breeding and conservation programs for endangered turtles and frogs. The reptile portion of the Aussie Ark is housed here. We spent a long time watching the many happy and well cared for koalas, munching on their dinner! The dingoes were howling, heard across the park. We enjoyed seeing fruit bats and the platypus up close. Everyone working here is dedicated to protecting wild creatures. Getting the public to love and appreciate a wild animal, is getting the public to join in the fight to save the wild! My husband and I had a fabulous time at the Australia Reptile Park, we learned a lot about Australia's wildlife! We also visited the park's sister organization, the Aussie Ark, to view its breeding program for Tasmanian Devils. A fabulous adventure!

For a long time we have driven past the yellow dinosaur on the M1 motorway thinking we should visit the park. Finally after COVID we made time to attend and it was much more enjoyable than we expected.
The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to have a casual chat about the animals they clearly love.
Being called a reptile park we were surprised to see non reptile animals (cute koala, kangaroos, birds, dingo, etc.)

Haven’t been for over a decade. Used to come regularly when my kids were young. Arrived at opening at 9am. Koalas (they have lots of them) were active & had the roaming Kangaroos to myself. Went to all the talks & Alligator feeding (so many Alligators!) and Eric the Crocodile feeding. Had ham & salad wrap & small coffee for lunch $15. Very much enjoyed the lorikeet feeding. The flocks of rainbow lorikeets clearly know when they are fed. They descended en masse then all flew off again after eating. Lots of other Aussie animals, birds & reptiles to see. A hot day but plenty of shade. An expensive day out but spending 5hrs there I thought it worth the money. Playground for kids and lots of young kids & families enjoying their visit.

Horrible place exploiting animals for money.
Loud music and small enclosures.
The reptiles were the worst.
Including the snapping turtle that doesn’t even have enough room to swim around.
The small crocodiles in the Egypt themed exhibit were in a small pool of water with strong lights and very load music on constantly.
Very sad to see

Very expensive for everything, stale sandwich was $8, 10min wait to get served with 2 people that worked at the park in front of us, that obviously hadn't paid $100 to get in, in the cue. No crocodile show, no tortoise show, no laughs, it seems a lot different to all the times we have been before. We have been visitors for over 30yrs, and today just felt very expensive and the enclosures seemed very small. A lot of maintenance and cleaning happening in the reptile room so a lot of exhibits closed or empty. The kids playground had no shade so the slides were burning hot. Just overall dissapointing for such a high entry fee.

Was very excited to take my 2 year old little girl here as I had so many great memories of going in primary school.
Two issues I found
One- the cost is pretty high we got two photos done and it was $60! Also when getting the photo it wasn’t like at other zoos we have been to where the staff have been really engaged and talk to you about the animals you are with, they literally hand you the animal, take the photo and then take it back and say bye
Also a sausage roll and drink is $13! Prices were just excessive
Secondly which was the most disappointing part was a couple of the staff I found weren’t very friendly or informative. One male staff member was in the grassy area and had a Komodo dragon on a leash, my daughter was so excited we walked up to them and he didn’t even say hello- he was just chatting to another female staff member for a good few minutes while we stood there awkwardly it was bizarre
No hi, this is our Komodo dragon and this is what he eats and he’s seven years old or something- just nothing there was no interaction at all
There also wasn’t a show at all with the crocodiles/alligators
My daughter enjoyed her day but it was just a bit of a disappointment for me

All in all a good place to visit. The entrance price of $150 for a family is a little on the high side but the site is clean, tidy and well kept. The keeper talk was informative and engaging. most of the animals appeared to be well kept and in reasonably large enclosures although I felt uncomfortable with caged birds and in particular the Kmodo Dragon, a large animal capable of swimming between islands in the wild, confined to a small enclosure, even if they did have a scenic background painted on the wall. Was particularly impressed with the breeding area, many zoos claim to do this but show no proof. Here one can see from outside the breeding tanks and the animals inside.
Didn't sample the food so unable to comment.
All in all an enjoyable day out in a region somewhat lacking in memorable places to visit.

Tanti bambini entusiasti e adulti molto coinvolti . E' stato un vero piacere che consiglio

Would recommend this to anyone really. Small kids, teenagers or adults. Allow 2-3 hours for the visit. Lots of native animals and reptiles to keep people happy. Can take in own food, price of admission is reasonable for your experience. The animals were well looked after.

Lovely little zoo, where we got to see lots of native Australian animals. We especially loved the Koalas and feeding the Kangaroos. All the animals were well looked after and the talks by the staff were very informative and fun.

Hi. I don’t work there but you can pay extra to have a huge python wrapped around you (we did this) or a KOALA. Yes :)
Is the food halal at the cafe , is there a menu on line
My son is autistic and picky with what he is , just wanted to know what’s available

Hi, we are visiting this weekend and the weather forecast isn't good. Is it still worth coming if it's raining? We have 2 small kids.
Australian Reptile Park
Somersby, أستراليامساهمتيْن
Hi Sarah, apologies for the delayed response. It looks like the weather held out for you on the weekend! As most of the park is outdoors, we recommend that people bring jackets as it can get quite cold up here as we are essentially on the top of a hill! We also have ponchos available for purchase if it begins to rain
If you did visit, we hope you all had a wonderful day!
How to go there without a car?
Australian Reptile Park
Somersby, أستراليامساهمتيْن
Hi Jason, there are a few options:
- Catch a train to Gosford station then catch a taxi to the park. Upon presentation of taxi receipt, you will receive 25% off admissions
- Chartered tour bus from Sydney
- There is a public bus that drops passengers off about 20 minutes from the Park (Pile Rd, Somersby), however they only stop at that particular stop twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon
Hope to see you soon!

Hi there, thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, by law, it is prohibited for anyone to hold a koala in NSW (the state in which we are situated) unless you are a trained zoo keeper. The only state in Australia that still allows the holding of koalas is Queensland. However, at The Australian Reptile Park we provide an experience where you can get up close to the koalas, pat them, have your photograph taken and cuddle up really close while they still sit in their tree!
