Most enjoyable visit to the museum. Only 8 in the group with a wonderful docent, Cindy. A great way to learn about Wharton Esherick and be amazed at what he accomplished. The whole house was beautiful furniture with a definite purpose. He seemed to have an ingenious mind. Cindy was great explaining what we saw and also personal information. Great way to spend the morning. Just a word of caution to wear
sneakers as steps are a little strange.

Wow Not worth going to if they are getting all political on us. I used to visit at least twice a year. No thanks.

A wonderful guided tour to learn about an interesting man and see his amazing work. He was an artist ahead of his time.

What a treat to tour the artist Wharton Esherick’s unique studio/home, where the building is as fascinating as the furniture and sculptures that it contains. Over a 40-year period, Esherick hand-crafted his home, designing and constructing everything from the carved cabinets to the puzzle-like floorboards to the amazing spiral staircase. Everything is smoothly shaped of polished wood, so lovingly finished that your fingers itch to touch - and here you can! Esherick’s furniture designs are organic and whimsical, but surprisingly practical, too, like the self-illuminating desk masquerading as a cupboard, or the hidden drawers built into a velvet settee. A knowledgeable docent led our hour-long tour (reserve online, $15 adults; $13 seniors) and guided us through the surprises and secrets of the house. As a bonus, the road we took to the Esherick Museum took us past several of the sites in the Valley Forge National Historical Park.

This is a quirky, thoroughly interesting home/studio to visit. I went in not knowing much about Wharton Esherick and left with a new favorite artist. Our tour lasted about 45 minutes and was led by docent Cathy, who was knowledgeable about the artist and the home. The home is definitely not ADA compliant, so anyone with mobility issues won’t be able to go through it. There is a very small visitor center with restrooms.

Our very enthusiastic docent brought this very small space to life. I agree it is a woodworker’s delight but the place needs a good deep cleaning and the roof replaced.

What an amazing museum! We throughly enjoyed our visit. First an interesting synopsis about Esherick's background was shared - truly a necessary factor to understand Esherick's creative purpose. Then the tour group walks through his studio /home seeing the fruition of his artistic endeavors first-hand. Our docent was informative and moved a good pace to allow us to appreciate his work. Be sure to schedule a tour before you go. It gets busy, and this living history museum is small.

I really didn't know anything about the artist prior to coming. This is a quirky little museum of Wharton Esherick, a woodworker. The museum was his personal residence and studio which he refers to as his "autobiography". Really beautiful setting in the woods, lovely artwork and story. There are some rather steep winding stairs inside the museum. You can skip this part of the tour if you have mobility issues. Very glad we ended up here and would suggest this to anyone who appreciates the unique.

Toured this museum (home/studio of artist Wharton Esherick, who I knew absolutely nothing about) with friends. It is a bit off the beaten track and takes a degree of planning (make reservations ahead of time). We were on a docent-led tour with a total group of 8. The tour was supposed to last an hour, ours went to just under 2-hours because we had a docent who knew so much about the artist and his work and eagerly answered questions from our group. Very impressive. I think we benefited by booking the LAST tour of the day so there was no pressure to yield the premises to a subsequent tour group. Loved the "please go ahead and carefully touch the wood surfaces" permission we were granted at the outset. My cautions: This is NOT a tour for anyone with mobility issues and I don't think the tour would hold the interest of most children, teenagers. Tickets are $15 per adult.
