‪Going to Riverfront Park was a consolation prize for not being able to find fort Pitt. There is street and adjacent pay parking lots. The walk is lovely and I believe you can scout out a ramp access to the waterfront. You might want to check it out first. There is a really lovely Korean war Memorial in the park. A conflict that has not received enough honorifics. I wasn’t quite sure if it was a Korean war or Korean conflict or what, so being a nerd I went and looked it up. I’ll put it at the end of this review. It’s wonderful to be able to walk adjacent to the river. I could see Fort Pitt in the distance. There were at least four or five bridges visible in a city full of bridges. It was really nice and quiet, with most people just taking a walk. It seems very safe. I think it would be an enjoyable visit and that it would be a way to slow down and not be entertained so much as to enjoy the environment. Pictures attached.

*On June 25, 1950, North Korea launched a full-scale invasion of the South after receiving the go-ahead from Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Until that point, the United States appeared disinclined to intervene. The year before it had removed its last remaining troops from Korea, and that January U.S. Secretary of State Dean Acheson had given a speech in which he excluded Korea from America’s defense perimeter. Nonetheless, the United States got involved in the Korean War almost immediately. On June 27, as North Korean troops reached the outskirts of Seoul, the South Korean capital, U.S. President Harry S. Truman ordered naval and air forces into action. Then, three days later, he approved the use of ground troops. Though the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, it did not do so in this case. “If a burglar breaks into your house, you can shoot him without going down to the police station and getting permission,” Senator Tom Connally told Truman when asked if Congressional approval was necessary. As a result, Congress has not formally declared war since World War II.
Probably more than you wanted to know. But I enjoy history in like knowing the facts. I thought you might too.‬

‪I visited Pittsburgh in August for a technology convention. During my time there I frequented North Shore trail quite a bit. It was a good place to run, walk, bike, enjoy the skyline, checkout PNC Park, etc. Coincidentally, there was supposed to be a boat festival and even though it was canceled there were still many boats out enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon.

There's also a place to rent kayaks so check that out as well. My favorite time to checkout North Shore trail was at night. They have a really cool skyline. My favorite spot was between Roberto Clemente Bridge and the Andy Warhol Bridge.

My tip(s) would be that you're very close to PNC Park, the Roberto Clemente Statue, Heinz Field, etc. I'd say this is the center of it all and you aren't too far from some of Pittsburgh's main attractions from here. The Pirates didn't do well, but it's worth catching a game as there isn't a bad seat in that park.‬

‪The walk around North shore park has many sites along the way.theres Heinz Field, Roberto Clemente, law enforcement, Manchester,Mr. Rodgers ,Bonus Wagner statues to name a few . You can also walk down and touch the Allegheny river. It's just a nice walking area. The parking runs from $6 to $12 all day in various lots. Thus you can visit the science center, stadiums. Highmark sports complex,Submarine,Rivers casino etc and walk to all.‬

‪The park itself was generally clean. Of the course, being late winter... the water fountains were off and drained. There was no snow or ice of noticeable value. A little breezy and that's it as the memorial is outside. There were many piles of dead leaves still around from the fall previous months earlier against the Wall of Heroes. Overall is was a justly quiet and somber amount of time I spent thinking about those who came before me. I was also able to snap a pic or two of the view looking away from the memorial over the Allegheny River peering toward downtown. March wasn't a bad time to visit. I would not recommend January or February only due to extreme cold temps, ice, snow, wind unless you're remembering someone specific from that conflict.‬

‪This 11.25 acre municipal park, situated between the 2 stadiums, Heinz Field and PNC Park, and 2 rivers, Ohio and Allegheny, is filled with both things to see as well as views of the surrounding area. Some of its many attractions within the park include the Great Lawn, Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Mr. Rogers' Memorial Sculpture titled Tribute to Children, Manchester Bridge Sculpture, Three Rivers Stadium and First Professional Football Game Historical Plaques, Vietnam Veterans' Monument, Water Steps, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and Langley Observatory Clock. It's a great place to run and walk by the water, especially on a pleasant Spring day with a gently refreshing breeze.‬

‪Enjoy the span of the skyline from the trail! Just avoid the geese droppings, as those are always littered about. Very safe. Great views. ‬

‪The North Shore River Park is a favorite spot for both visitors and locals. Many tours stop here to take in the view and to visit the memorials in the area. Locals enjoy jogging and biking along the river. Great spot to photograph the city skyline at sunset and dusk.‬

‪This is a great scenic park. Enjoy either before or after a Steelers game at the Heinz Field..... why .... because when a game is held, the river has many boats that will dock along the park, put out their hibachi's, cook up a storm and tailgate. Certainly a different way to tailgate and it's fun to watch the variety of boats, Steelers outfits with live & taped music everywhere.
On top of that, the park has a wonderful maintained lawn to stretch out on, it has water steps to marvel at, and it's great to take a day or evening stroll on the walkway, or bike it, for that matter. The Carnegie Science Center is along the walkway ... as well as, of course, Heinz Field.‬
