I am so sad to see that this wonderful exhibit is closed forever.
I remember my grandparents taking me and my sister to see this when we would pass through on our way to NJ in the 70's. Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to go back and show my kids what I experienced: The spectacle, the tribute to America, the night show, and, of course, the wonderful scenery and interactive elements. Sadly, life and time got in the way and I could never make it back at all. Now it is too late and it makes me sad that, yet, another piece of my childhood is gone.
I see now that it has been 4 years since it closed due to the pandemic. I understand the situation and I understand why the owners felt they had to do what they had to do under the circumstances. I felt the same way when Ringling Bros. Circus went away. However, if Ringling Circus can come back this year, maybe somehow, someway, Roadside America could too.
There are so few places like this in the US and, perhaps, today's generation doesn't and wouldn't get it. It's a simple pleasure. I would drive all the way from Georgia with my 4-year-old son just so that he could see it and maybe feel the same way I did so he could carry that feeling to HIS children. Thank you for being there 50 years ago when I was passing through. I have never forgotten the experience and I will not forget unless my mind and memory fail me.

First visit was 1967 and it was amazing. We talked with the owner and he explained it was an ongoing project which would never be finished. He was doing for his son who loved trains. His son was in the military. Been there every time we pass near by. It is still an awesome visit for families and elders alike. Very saddened to see it permanently closed.

Despite passing this quite frequently, I never stop often enough. This is the kind of old-school, low-tech roadside entertainment that is sadly becoming harder to find these days. While it's easy to pass through the building quickly, it's worth taking some time to appreciate the artistry and vision required of a solid model train exhibit, especially if you have a young one who desires one of his own for the basement. More frequent stops in the future are definitely justified.

I was here nearly fifty years ago as a teenager, and was amazed at the authenticity and detail of every vista of Roadside America...still great for the entire family !

Such a great place! We spent about an hour here. So much to see. Great for all ages! My 14 year old loved it as much as my 7 year old.

I surprised my husband with a trip to see Roadside America for his 70th Birthday. What fun! We were both completely amazed. The supervisor there was very knowledgeable about the history of the family and how the Village evolved through Mr Gieringer's vision. I'd highly recommend Roadside America to anyone.

This place is a bit traditional but fun as anything especially for those little ones who like to press buttons to make things happen. Not the largest layout I have see nor the most realistic, but it is a truly great place to see Lionel trains and great craftsmanship of small structures and the "night" portion of the show is not to be missed. If you have been there already I guarantee you will see something new.

My Dad used to take me here in the 70s. Then we moved out West, I joined the military, and have only seen it a few times since. Now we have moved to Maryland and plan on visiting Roadside America often since my parents are resting in a cemetary in Pottsville. My son loves it just like I did decades ago. I never seen a kid that did not love this place and I personally think prices are fair. It costs $100-200 to see a sporting event or $50-100 to see a movie. I think adult tickets were $8. Easy to get to as it is right on I-78. It seems to take most people about an hour but stay for the night show every half hour. Even my wife from the Philippines felt close when she saw the Ste Niño dolls, made by the original owner. Ste Niño is a big part of Philippine culture. Thank you for maintaining this for decades.

My family used to take me here when I was little. My husband, adopted dad and I ventured out yesterday (17 January, 2020). When we walked in, I felt like I was a little kid again. However, the details were much more magical as an adult. I was able to speak with one of the gentlemen who works on the layout and he pointed out so much detail to me. I was so glad we made the trip (more than 2 hours from home). I am also VERY happy that they clarified that it was a huge rumour that they were closing. They are NOT closing! They simply had a leak in the roof a while back and had to close to repair it. The Gieringer family continues the tradition and continues to improve and upgrade the layout. There is no place in America you will find a "blast from the past" miniature display like this. Go and enjoy it with the entire family.

Drove past this place a few years ago and noted the location for a future visit. It's really Roadside America, and you should see it at least once. Not much has changed since the 1960's I hear, but probably 99% of everything was working. They also had a Christmas show that dimmed the lights and Christmas music played for about 8-10 minutes. You can make 2 laps around, one at normal level and another about 6 feet higher, and yes, you notice more 'stuff'.
Gift shop is not exaclty loaded up for the train/model enthusiast, but if they added some Lionel HO rail cars with RA logo's, it probably would be a big seller. I think they need some more foot traffic and then a solid retail program would bring them the revenue to do a major upgrade to the displays.
Train lovers, anyone who sets up holiday displays, and Norman Rockwell fans all will love this. About an hour to make the 2 laps. Good times.
