Stopped here while in the area. If you like toy trains they have it. Many different scales and brands. There are many interactive displays. Kids will like the display also. Give yourself about an hour to see everything

The National Toy Train Museum is impressive. It is a bit small and the store is small as well, but sometimes you find treasures in the small things. There are quite a few toy train towns and layouts, with buttons you can push for trains to start, with lots of moving parts and pieces. The museum also has old trains, antique trains and lots of history on toy trains.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the museum and it gave Mr. B ideas for train layouts. The kids in the museum all were having a ball with the trains. It is a fun stop for any train enthusiasts.

My wife is a giant railroad fan. The regular railroad museum was closed while we were there so this became a fill in on our way out of town. I really wish we had gotten there sooner. It is definitely a cool place to visit. We were there for about an hour but that is very misleading. It is definitely worth a few hours. We walked slowly until we realized how big it was so we rushed through the last half. It has lots of examples of different size model railways. They also have entire layouts of different size railroads. We also thought the legoes one was very interesting. The layouts also have the ability for you to operate the trains and also several of the other structures in the models. The only thing I would like (and I should say my wife didn't see this as a problem) is more of a description of the different styles or types of trains. There were a few of those but I like to leave a museum having learned things.

Multiple layouts of historic toy trains. Many different gauges are on display. Interactive buttons add to the fun. Allow an hour.

The American Train Collectors Museum, just north of the Caboose Motel and is over the top! As a museum professional, it is not only full of wonderful exhibits and demonstrations, and is immaculately clean, well-organized and attention grabbing to be sure. Children will appreciate this one for sure

This is one of the coolest museums I've been to in years. The inside is not massive so you can see it all in a reasonable period of time, although someone really into toy trains will spend more time looking at the details. The museum does a fair job of putting the models into context and time, and most can pick up themes and such due to the comprehensive collection. Train layouts are fun and well-maintained. This is part of a lot of train history-- the Pennsylvania Train Museum is nearby, the Strasburg Railroad lets you ride the real thing, and a hotel made of cabooses is right across the street. Well worth the admission.

If you like trains this is the place to go. Lots of model train history is contained within these walls. Some which may even surprise you. Covers all scales and history of long forgotten makers of toy trains over the years.

What a beautiful museum of toy trains and related items. This is not just for adults, there are lots of things for the kids to see, and many buttons to push to activate accessories that the kids will love. This is a first class museum, nice displays, state of the art lighting, the exhibits even go dark and the accessories (buildings, etc.) light up like it's night. Put this museum on your to do list, you'll be impressed! Right behind the Red Caboose Motel and minutes from the Strasburg RR and the Railroad Museum of Pa.

Very nice displays and history. Was expecting a little more though. The building seemed so large, yet it didn't take much time to see everything and walk through.

Great tour thru history of toy trains, beautiful displays of everything from wooden to tinplate to cast iron to more current. Plus interactive displays in all the major gauges and LEGO. Highly recommend a visit, about an hour

You should allow at least two to three hours to see all the display trains. It’s an overwhelming experience especially if you are a model train fan, possibly longer if you are going to tie it into a railroad merit badge. There are so many railroad attractions as the Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum, Choo Choo Barn, the Caboose Motel and the Steam Train ride at the Strasburg Railroad the amount of time at each site will have to be adjusted by how much time you have in the area. Everyone will love the museum and remember it for many years. Carl
