Beautiful garden that you can walk in a couple hours! Very peaceful. Lovely flowers even for late summer. Lots of shade during the hot summer days. Highly recommend!

Just beautiful!!. Layout of Gardens was well thought out and the whole. experience had a very "natural" feel. Hope to return in a different season to see contrasts.

It was a rainy day and absolutely beautiful! (If needed they provide umbrellas. )There are many different gardens containing the mundane to the exotic. It is clear that there is a lot of work put into the gardens, the fields, the ponds, the paths...the acres of paradise. If I lived in this area I would have a membership and go in all seasons. Even the bathrooms had bouquets of flowers- different for the men and women's rooms.
I especially liked the shade gardens. I have shade gardens and sometimes am at a loss how to make them beautiful. There were some gardens that were highly manicured and others that were "natural" AND the lotus in full bloom covering the pond. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Our friends, Cindy and Arash, introduced this hidden to us. My wife remarked, "How have I lived in this area for 23 years and never been here?!" It's magnificent. It's so relaxing to walk around and look at the beautiful grounds with flowers, trees, plants, etc. There are plenty of spots to sit and contemplate the beauty. They even have a garden that produces food for employees and local pantries for those in need. Admission is reasonable as you can spend as long as you wish. We're going to by an annual pass, so we can pop in for picnics and for recharging our batteries after work.

Chanticleer is a lovely place to visit! The admission is reasonably priced and there are so many interesting things to see there. The gardens are relatively small and easy to navigate in an hour or two.

Not only beautiful and unusual, but also fun! Grounds managers have a sense of humor that can be found in hardscape and planting displays. A treat for both the knowledgeable and casual garden-lover. Banana trees in Philadelphia that, according to staff, survive outdoors year-round! Picnics, strolls, gardening ideas, family outing, read a book, take a date - just go and enjoy!

Chanticleer is a sparkling gem! The gardens are beautiful and the walk through the property is delightful. You can spend anywhere from an hour to 3 exploring and enjoying the multitude of plantings.

Exquisite pleasure garden. Every element is curated with whimsy and deep horticultural knowledge. Very reasonable admission. Convenient and gorgeous restrooms. Comfy seating is abundant; everything for the guests enjoyment is perfect.I’ve been to Kew, Kuekenhof and many other elaborate gardens but Chanticleer is my favorite. The creativity in plant selection and ornament blows my mind. We got there when it opened and stayed till it closed for the evening. Loved every minute.
No food or drink sold onsite. We brought lunch and picnicked. They only sell a couple of books and water bottle, etc. Wish they had more merch; like a hat and t-shirt.
They take parking reservations during busy times.

Very walkable and accessible to all abilities, give yourself at least an hour, but could easily spend an afternoon. Lovely gardens, staff and gardeners very nice and knowledgeable. Parking lot fills up fast on warm weekends. No longer cheap for Radnor library card holders, but if you plan ahead you can use the various county library pass programs for free admissions

There are tables available in several places in the garden. I would say total they have about 15 tables in 3 locations.

Yes but paths are steep for wheelchairs and scooters. Staff will transport some visitors with a golf cart.

I realize the gardens close at 5pm, but if I'm already there, can I stay past 5 pm? Or do I need to leave the grounds at 5pm?

Gates close promptly at 5pm Allow enough time to tour the gardens. These gardens are amazing and a great visit!

No. And I believe no food or drink is permitted in the gardens at all. You can call them and ask any questions you have.

Are the gardens wheelchair assessable in all parts? I require a wheelchair if I stand or walk over a certain amount of time. If not, are there benches to rest on during a walk through the gardens?

Yes, you will be find in the wheelchair. There are benches
But some are in grassy area.

I imagine that a heavy duty wheelchair might work, but there are a lot of slopes and unpaved trails. There is also an entire area that is in stairs. You can access parts of the garden on a wheelchair, it's a big place so you might have to walk some of the areas. Others will be inaccesible. The staff is very friendly so give them a call in advance.

No. But I'd wear comfortable walking shoes. There is a paved path, it is a good 1-2 mile walk around property.

I have been there spring, summer and fall. Even if it rains, there are areas of trees that you can escape. There is also areas to avoid hot sun. All the gardens within the garden are inherent to themselves and there is always something to admire. Time of day, I prefer morning...
