Beautiful grounds. Pretty horses. Friendly staff. And a gorgeous scenery during the trail ride. Plentiful opportunities to see wildlife during the experience.
Only not giving 5 stars because my horse ("Bear") didn't want to follow the horses in front of him at one point, and after gently trying to course-correct, he was stubborn, and I fell off, and was very hurt. My ribs are in pain and probably will be for months. Candidly, there wasn't a ton of concern showed to me after the trail ride ended.
That all said...from all the positive reviews, I think it's fair to chalk this up to a flukey occurrence. They are horses after all; accidents are bound to happen.
So, we'd still recommend this experience...but what happened (and the remaining aftermath) do dampen our memory somewhat. But again, probably uncommon.

Rebecca & Riley gave a wonderful, historic narrated trail ride. Beautiful marshes, wildlife & scenes of the Low Country! You’ll be impressed!

One of the most beautiful experiences in Charleston is the grounds on Middleton Place. The history as well as the amazing landscape made this tour so memorable. We saw so much wildlife along the way. Sophia’s love for the horses was undeniable and their personalities were so unique. I will say definitely wear plenty of bug spray if you go on the 4 pm ride. Highly recommend this excursion.

I have gone on a lot of trail rides in various states, and this was by far my favorite! I typically do not care much about historical information but our tour guide was very informative and made it very interesting. Highly recommend. And yes you do have to wear a helmet, however they are very nice helmets. Not bicycle helmets, actual professional horse helmets. Far more comfortable and breathable.

Great day with friends. None of us had experience at horseback riding. The staff was extremely professional, but friendly and helpful. They even stayed in contact with us by wocky talky and verbally, asking if we were okay or if we needed help. The horses are gentle so that even the most intimidated person could ride with ease. The head tour guide was entertaining and knowledgeable of Middleton Estates. Highly recommended this excursion during your stay in Charleston.

We spent an hour at the Middleton Place Equestrian Center. It was a breeze to check in and find a helmet. There wasn’t a lengthy checklist of do’s and don’ts which was awesome. Our guide Kirstin was fantastic and energetic, let us get on our horses and took us out on the trail in no time. Had a wonderful ride at a leisurely pace. During the ride we got some information and history about the property. All in all it was a great way to spend some time with horses, would recommend it to anyone.

I thought we would see the plantation and houses but we just rode a trail through the forest and saw some marshes. My horse , Thelma , did not want to keep up with rest of the horses. She was very slow and I grew frustrated with trying to urge her to get up to speed. The person behind me was frustrated because she had to keep slowing her horse so it wouldn’t run into mine. I expect to steer or stop a horse through the reins but making it speed up when you could tell she did not want to participate was draining and took all the fun out of the experience.

Absolutely loved it! You do not have to be an experienced horseback rider. These horses are so gentle and well trained that even a first timer will be comfortable. The guides take great care of you. This is the best way to learn about and see the beauty of the plantation. Our guides were Kirstin and Rebecca- we had a great time- thank you!

Wonderful experience. Hadn't riden a horse in decades. My wife and I had a great time. The horses were very tame and the guides were knowable reassuring.

Can you accommodate a 6 year old? If so on a horse or pony? The adult and child are inexperienced riders is that a problem?

I live out of state and cannot find any pricing or even a correct website for reserving rides online. Is there a website with this information? Thanks

Unfortunately, we are not offering trail rides at this time. Seabrook Island has very nice trail rides along the beach. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, we are not offering guided trail rides at this time. The trails are open and available to anyone who would like to bring their own horses. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have updated this site to reflect these changes. Seabrook Island is offering trail rides this fall.
