Since the Spoleto performance of “The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart” was excellently performed, my review is about the theatre itself. I do not like to see theatre without a stage and having to sit on regular chairs placed around small tables is not my first choice. Although parking is available across the street for $8, the dirt lot became very muddy after a torrential downpour. I hope that for future Spoleto productions, this theatre is not included as all of the rest that they use are far superior.

We saw Disaster musical & it was so well done that we left crying in laughter. Super voices and professional actors, even the young boy was amazing. A wonderful historic place with a big stage. You sit at unreserved round tables so get there early to pick your table.

This is a hidden gem in Charleston. The quality of the entertainment is very good. The setting is typically small tables so it provides an intimate feel to your experience. They have a full bar so you can have a libation or two while enjoying the theatre. The ticket prices are at a price point that is very reasonable for the quality of theatre they provide.

Went to see a Spoleto event and was impressed with the venue which, while small and old, has a lot of charm. Tables with 4 chairs were our seating arrangement on the ground floor and sight lines by and large are quite good. 4 rows of upstairs seating as well though acoustics might be a problem if the performers walk around (as ours did) as they would disappear from sight and presumably a lot of sound as well. Nonetheless its a theatre I recommend and look forward to returning to. Wine, beer and soft drinks served at a bar.

My wife and I met some friends and caught the second to last showing of Rock of Ages. We are so glad we did! It's a smaller, more intimate theater, but everything looks fresh and new. The cast was wonderful and really engaged the audience. Beer and wine were served throughout the performance. A surprising and wonderfully humorous performance!

We saw Rock of Ages with friends who are members of this playhouse. They said that the show was one of the best. We loved the talent, story, music, sets, costumes and general feel of being up close and personal with the play.

We were there for closing night of rock of ages. The theater is a intimate please to see a show. Some of the singers did not have a strong voice, but all could act. Had a great time.

Top notch acting! One of a kind set design! Awesome space. This is the theatre you want to see. It was such a surprise to us to find such amazing theatre in a town. my husband and I said you could take this theatre and put it in New York or Chicago. It is that good!!!! You have to go.

We were surprised by this little theater that boasted tables and chairs with a bar in a intimate space. Most of the tables were reserved for members, supporters?, but there were not bad seats anywhere due to the smallish crowd and plenty of tables. I did notice one of the front tables, directly next to the stage, pulled extra chairs around it which did inhibit the view for some directly behind them. I thought it was a bit rude but ....
The play was "The Explorer's Club". It started off a bit slow and stiff but warmed up mid-way through the first act. The character, Luigi, a blue skinned native from a far off island, was wonderful! The unexpected began with his arrival. The pretty and intelligent woman, Mary Fishburne, who brought Luigi to the club as part of her bid to join the all men's club, departed and Luigi took over the play. With Luigi in "hiding' as the bartender in the club, all bets were off for how this was going to unfold. We were thrilled to see our real bartender, who served us drinks at the start of the play and at break, show up as two different characters in the second act.
All in all, a fun evening with an amusing storyline and several very good actors. We will return next time we are visiting the area.
A bonus: We were able to greet "Luigi", Patrick Arnheim, as we were leaving and compliment him on the great job he did.

My husband booked tickets a show called Boogie Woogie Girls in this cute theatre. It was an old building that was restored to a pretty theatre that holds about 50 or so people. They serve drinks and snacks before the show. The actors and the play itself was very upbeat and funny. Only 3 actors on stage, but they played various parts. We liked that the theatre was intimate and no bad seats in the place. We were seated by two nice ladies who gave us suggestions on sights to see in Charleston and Savannah. The musical was set during WWII and had many popular songs of that era. It was nice to see people of all ages enjoying the show. It was walking distance from our hotel and really enjoyed the show. Check out this venue if you have a free evening while visiting Charleston. The ticket prices were very reasonable.
