As Members we go here often. The kids enjoy everything they have to do from Animal Encounters, Zip Line, Rope Course, Carousel, Rock Climbing, Playground, Small Train, Farm Petting Zoo, Aquarium, Penguins, Sea Lions and more. The Zoo is very adult and Kid friendly. They have places to eat and sit and relax. Only issue you might have will be parking. They've added perking but depending on the day you go you might still have a small walk as it gets busy early.

They had all the large African mammals, including lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos and more. The exhibits are large and well cared for.

My daughter, two grandchildren and I spent St Patrick’s Day yesterday and wanted to make a few observations. For families on a budget, the admission price is relatively reasonable; however some attractions cost extra, such as a ride on the carousel, feeding a piece of lettuce to the giraffes, walking into the petting zoo. These extra costs prevent many from experiencing a fun memory at very little cost to the zoo budget. What completed turned me off was the cost of the lunch which was $50 for 3 meals. While the portions were fine, with young kids, they often can’t eat the whole meal but when we requested to go boxes, we were told they didn’t have any, nor did they have plastic lids for our drinks. While we were finishing our lunch, we saw several employees come out of the restaurant with to go boxes. Why not forgo the paper plates and simply serve each meal in a to go box if cost is a factor. These observations have culminated in the probability that I’ll not go back. I’ve been to this zoo a dozen times in40 years and have always left with a satisfied feeling, until yesterday.

You can cover this zoo all in one day. Loves the interaction with the birds and giraffes. Lots of places to rest and eat.

View the animals, ride the “animals” on the carousel, climb the rope course or the rock tower, feed the giraffe. It’s all here to enjoy. Strollers and scooters to rent for the day to make this expansive zoo easier to maneuver. Food and drinks a plenty to purchase and a gift shop of course. Only one venue closed for remodeling. Some long lines but they move really fast. Very clean and the animals looked well cared for. You can get up close and personal to many. We had a wonderful time. Kids were asleep in minutes! ENJOY!

The animals were all sleeping and didn’t seem at all engaged. The animals from lion to tigers and bear to gorillas seemed drugged up and sleepy. The zoo experience was the worst zoo experience I ever experienced. Honestly speaking I pray that zoo is treating them animals right because their response had me worried. Columbia zoo gotta do better by there main attraction animals.

Our Family went here this past Summer and we had a great time.
We also enjoyed the Botanical garden as well. The zoo has good food fun animals to see and nice gift shops.

We were in town to tour U of SC and looked for things to do in the area. Since the zoo was doing holiday lights we thought we’d check it out. Despite drizzling rain all evening we enjoyed the visit. There were not many animals out… flamingos, birds, some small mammals like sloths, koalas. Several animal areas were pitch black so no telling if anything was out. They had holidays lights throughout that were pretty. Tickets to the event were very reasonable. Several add on activities were available for smaller kids. I’d say you could spend an hour to hour and a half there.

Both the zoo in the garden are relatively small, but I have an annual membership because they are also very relaxing to visit for an hour or two in the afternoon. There is a really fun and fairly good sized Kidzone at the botanical garden.

Not enough lights! Some were not even working. A lot of dark spots. It was my first time and I was not impressed. Sorry to be a Grinch but the highlight of the evening was my son wearing his Grinch costume and seeing all the kids want to get close to him and take pictures. At the gate they told him he could not wear the mask because they didn’t allow face coverings but many had masks on to protect against COVID?

To get to the Botonical Gardens, you can walk or take a tram across a bridge from next to the carousel. But nowhere online states how far this is. Anyone know how long the walk/tram ride is from the zoo to the Gardens?

According to the website, prices as of 6/22/19 were $19.95 for ages 12+, $16.95 for ages 2-12, under 2 are free. And yes, you can go to the ticket page of the website to buy tickets - they are running a special for online purchases too.
