If I was reviewing the store, I would give them an outstanding. Unfortunately, I am providing a poor rating for customer service. I called a month ahead of time to book surf lessons for my daughter and me. They took my name, the dates and phone number and said they would call me the week before we arrived. I heard nothing from them. When I arrived in Myrtle Beach, I called again to ask what date and time works best for them. At that time, they informed me that they had a surf camp underway that week and would not be able to fit us in. They said they would call us the next week…. we heard nothing. My daughter and I ended up at one of their competitors, we booked several lessons and had a great time. If you call to book surfing lessons with Surf City, make sure a camp is not scheduled for the same time period.

We booked surfing lessons with Surf City and I can not begin to tell you how amazing these people are. We had two instructors for three of us, ranging in age from 21 to 65. They made it so much fun. They supply the equipment and the smiles. Falling off of the surfboard was not nearly as traumatic as I feared, and the thrill of actually riding a wave in was exhilarating. I can not praise them enough.
They also do a surf camp for the younger kids. I see them out there in the morning having fun.
Also a great place to shop for some cool surf vibe clothing and accessories.

I asked a life guard where to rent a board while in Myrtle Beach and without hesitation he directed me to Surf City. With an eastern European accent (because most LG's are from eastern Europe :) "They're great guys over there... they'll take care of you.." So I took his advice and there I went... and he was right!
They rent surfboards for $15 a half day and better deals by the week!!! Unless you are in super shape and more importantly the conditions warrant a whole day (which is never) ...a half day is all you need. That's roughly two beers! It's also very convenient as the better surfing in Myrtle is located close to the store.
So don't even look around... go direct to Surf City Surf Shop. They do lessons too!

Expert advice. Huge selection. Great brands. This is always a must stop in myrtle. Worth the drive. Parking is convenient too.

My family and I have been going to Surf City for the past nine years. My boys started out by taking surf lessons which turned in to surf camp and even getting their pictures on the brochure! We have rented boards, purchased skim board, boogie boards and have gone on SUP tours. The owners Mark and Laura are knowledgable and the most amazing people.. There are any number of surf shops you could go to, but none make you feel like you are a part of their family.. Incredible service, advice, lessons,unique clothing and surf apparel are only a few of the reasons we love this store. Thank you Surf City for everything you do!

By far the service in the Surf City Surf Shop is outstanding. We've come here to rent surf boards, take surf lessons and do SUP tours. Both Trey and owner Mark are great. They Make us feel like we are best friends. Trey is a really good SUP teacher and the kids were all up and paddling in a jiffy. Mark's great laid back attitude with first class service is really wonderful to deal with. This by far is a great place and highly recommend it for any of your surfing needs. From the beginner to the expert the shops staff are all eager to assist and provide you with the right stuff. We will always come back here for all our surfing needs. Thanks again Mark and Trey for another wonderful SUP tour and providing great service. Keep up the great work. See you in Aug 2017!!👍👍👍🏄🏄🏄

We had a big group of 9 kids (ages 15 to 7) in surf lessons. We had 4 awesome instructors!! They were safety conscious and fun. We added 2 more surf days after the 1st one. The kids LOVED it. We left feeling like family. Great people!!

My first surfing experience at 52 years old. Kelly was my instructor very cool and knowledgeable. Wasn't sure if I'd even be able to stand up, was up in my first try. Super friendly met everyone at the shop looking forward to my next trip and lesson, these guys are awesome.

We were looking for a used, cheep surf board for decorative purposes. The staff was very helpful and the store has a ton of great items for everyone. The selection of sandals, shorts and Tees were great.

Few surf shops in the area have skim board rentals. Picked up two for a very reasonable price and the boards were in good condition and freshly waxed.
