Loved the beaches that are on the split of the island - so calm and relaxing. White sands and rock pools - got it all here!

Start from where the road ends, there's easier parking. It will be unusual to find anyone else there. The colour of the sand and sea is hard to believe. Sit, relax and enjoy the peace. Walk down to the other end and come back along the road and you can visit the ship wreck memorial. You'd think you were in the Caribbean if it wasn't for the wind and cool temperatures ! The island was one of our favourites in the whole Western Isles

Vatersay in teh sunshine is like nowhere else in the world. The beaches are outstanding. If only Scotland could gurantee the weather!

A lovely walk, stunning views, a few too many cows but they seemed used to people trapsing through their fields. There is a cafe in the community hall run by 3 sisters, get yourself some homemade cake, lovely!

Whilst staying on the Isle of Barra we hired a car £40 per day, excellent service and so helpful man from Barra car hire.
We headed up the hill to Vatersay where there are stunning beaches and crystal clear waters
Wild camping is the way to go on this paradise Island, there is a small coffee shop which was open from 12 to 4
Panoramic views, excellent for swimming, kayaking
