What a neat experience!! Going backwards up to Lookout Mountain was thrilling and the views were amazing. Now when you get to the top there’s not much but viewing decks, a little gift shop with great wind chimes and a fudge shop where the fudge is made on site. Shane was a driver with a great sense of humor and good jokes. Glad we were able to do this.

We go to the railway each time we visit. The cars were newer than last time. This time they did not narrate anything up or down the ride. In prior years they narrated and told about the history of the railway. Was disappointed they didn’t this time.

This is one of those places it is relaxing to enjoy the ride on the train. There are a few pizza places at the bottom and there is a historic park down the street at the top.

The views going up were amazing; when you get up there though, there is very little to do so expect to take the next car down.

La publicité est bien faite et cela fait envi. Une fois sur place on découvre le prix: 15$… bon. Alors oui la pente est raide mais rien d’exceptionnel. En haut il y a la vue, ça va, et rien d’autre si ce n’est boutique de souvenirs et snacking. Et rien d’autre donc on redescend en se demandant pourquoi on est monté! San intérêt.

It was a nice ride, you get the view of people’s homes and a few adds for Rock City on the way up/down. It does get extremely step and I slid a little in my seat. My husband stated he didn’t slide at all. The view is nice and claims you can see 6 states which I am skeptical of. Once you’re at the top I was disappointed there wasn’t much to do. There is a gift shop and you may purchase popcorn, fudge etc. Point Park is a short walk to if you want to see that.

I rate 4 stars because after I paid for parking they told me they were sold out for the day. She claimed there is a sign to check availability before paying for parking we never found one that day or the next day when we actually got to get tickets and ride the train. I thought it was not clearly noted and I don’t like how everything now a days has to be purchased online ONLY…it’s no longer an option but the ONLY option.

Bij aankomst betaald parkeren via een automaat met je parkeervak nummer $2 per pakeerplaats.
Het treinritje gaat door bebost gebied en er valt weinig te zien.
Het spannendste deel van de rit is als de 2 treintjes elkaar passeren.
Het uitzicht boven is mooi maar vanuit Rock city verder op vele malen mooier.
Van de 3 attracties op een rij (Rock city, Ruby fall en de incline) is dit de minste en bij tijdgebrek zou ik dit ritje overslaan.

Excellent trip to the top of Lookout Mountain. I have been here before but not enough time to visit the batlefield at the top.
Since I came last time the parking payment system has changed. there is now a machine in the paystation, you enter your TAG plate number into it and make the payment, return to your car and leave it on display on the dashboard.
Just double-check you entered your TAG plate correctly. Nice ride up the top and a 10 minute walk to the battlefield park ($10 admission). Worth a trip would recommend to anyone.

Not bad if you have some time to kill in Chattanooga but otherwise not really worth all the hype. Once you get to the top of the mountain there really isn't much to do but look around. And on busy days, you could wait almost an hour to get up there only to spend 20 minutes and be done. We did at least meet some fun people in line so no experience is ever totally wasted.

Was considering doing the Incline Railway, Ruby Falls, and Rock City. To get tickets you have to choose specific dates and times. My question is is there a particular order you would do each place and how long would you space out between them? TIA

We got tickets ahead of time for Ruby Falls and went there first because it was the closest to our hotel. I had planned to see all three attractions, but wasn't sure if we would have enough time. We rode the Incline Railway next, and I believe I got tickets ahead of time for it too. I went by suggested time durations on the websites and allowed some time for eating the snacks we brought with us. I didn't purchase Rock City tickets ahead, but it turned out that we had plenty of time to see that too. You may want to look at the websites to see how late each attraction stays open because that may also figure into the order that you would do each one. Rock City is a little more south than the other 2, and actually has a Georgia address.

When we went in July, they did a very good job of sanitizing before we got on the tram and social distancing at the top and bottom where encouraged. The tram had only 10 people on it - and six of them were from my family.

Yes, I bought my roundtrip at the bottom, but I am sure if you start at the top they have a roundtrip ticket back to the top.

I’m originally from near Pittsburgh but never rode their incline. I do not do amusement parks...would it be best for me to pass on this?

It doesn't have a great place to put a wheelchair if you need to stay seated in it. If you are able to move from a wheelchair into a regular chair and have the wheelchair folded up, I'm sure they could accommodate you. They're very helpful!

Is lookout mountain and rock city two different places?

Both the Incline Railway and Rock City are on Lookout Mountain, but they are in two different locations on the mountain and are about a 15 minute drive away from one another. The Incline Railway is on the TN side of Lookout Mountain and you can see Chattanooga from there. Rock City is on the GA side of the mountain and is closer to Ruby Falls. I would definitely suggest visiting both because they are both unique. Please make sure to give yourself adequate time to visit Rock City; don't rush through it. I would also suggest starting at the base of the mountain and taking the lower access to the Incline Railway. If you are a history buff, there is a National Park honoring both the North and the South. There are also several beautiful trails for hiking and we carved out time to do both. There is also a quaint little restaurant, 1885, at the bottom of the mountain that you can have lunch or dinner after your trip. Very good food and service.
