‪We had a wonderful 3 day camping stay here on our way home to Virginia. We had full hookup and our site #31 was long enough for our 35 ft TT and pickup truck. The sites are a little close for a state park but full hookup made up for lack of privacy. There is access to the Nolichucky River for kayaking and fishing, hiking trails, a nice playground and historical interpretation area. Laundry building is heated and air-conditioned which is wonderful. You must supply your own fire pit if you stay in the full hookup section. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the closeness of each site.‬

‪No swimming pool ...nothing much to do. River is dangerous. Nothing like it was years ago. What a shame.‬

‪Great state park. Sites were close. We booked a little late that we couldn't get a larger site with sewer hook up. They have plenty of sites, clean restrooms. Staff was very friendly & attentive. Hiking trails on site were nice along the Nolichucky River. They have a Museum & historical site worth visiting. If you enjoy hikes, drive to Margarette Falls. Moderate hike, within 3 miles round trip. Beautiful & amazing water falls & hike.‬

‪The campground is nice. The sites are paved and mostly level. The workers were friendly and very helpful. I just found it odd that you have to rent a fire pit for $7.99 per night. I have never run into this anywhere else. There are some pits along the river bank for community use that are free. The washers and dryers were very nice. There is no change machine on site and other campers told us the office won’t give change so we ran into Greenville to get quarters at a car wash. Convenient location to tons of historical sites.‬

‪Interesting location on the Nolichucky River.

An 'interpreter' is available at the cabin to explain how the Crockett family lived and about the local area.

Not really much to see; the museum has more information and will probably change your view on Davy Crockett...more of a gift shop than museum.

There is a loop trail, about 2/3 of a mile.‬

‪Winter makes it difficult to get the real experience however, the trails to walk were easy and clearly marked. We chose to walk along the water and just hearing the water flow across the rocks was wonderful. There was a small campground with hook ups and tent camping. There were park rangers that are able to assist in any questions. The bathrooms at the campground were very clean and warm. There were signs on the trails geared for kids and their parents to read and answer questions. We saw deer prints in the trails. All kinds of birds flying around. It’s a good place to sit quietly and observe nature ‬

‪We simply picked this campground for its location in eastern Tennessee when on our annual Christmas RV trip. But so glad we did! Beautiful location right on a rushing river. Only 3 others campers so very quiet! But close to Jonesborough, Johnson City and Greeneville. Will definitely come back - even from SC. ‬

‪We stopped here on our route from Pigeon Forge to Johnson City.
A 3/4 mile lane goes back from the 18th C entry cabin/campsite restrooms to the recreated 1786 Homestead. At the parking, multiple signboards tell his life story and a 1965 Monument (replacing the 1890 one) commemorates his life in a circle of native stones by 50 states.
We passed the frontier cabin, garden, side buildings and a donkey barn on the walk to the riverside with fishermen along the pleasant banks of the Nolichucky River.
Great stop for fans of United States frontier history and Disney's 1954 Fess Parker TV miniseries.‬

We have camped here for over 20 years..and we loved the park. We set up our tent on a site with water and electricity. The ranger came by and told us from now on due to some problems he had with other tent campers, we would have to set the tent up on the pavement parking pad. We didn't have to move ours since we were leaving the next day. But the lady across from us had a legally blind son and a daughter with heart problems and they were told they had to put their tent on the pavement. We paid for water and electricity so we can enjoy camping and be comfortable while our granddaughter had to charge her computer so she could do her online learning because of Covid. I feel like we were discriminated against because he had problems with other campers instead of addressing the problem with them. It is not in the campsite rules. I definitely will miss camping here. Like I said we camp a couple weeks here every year. But I will go somewhere else because I will not tear up my tent buy putting it on hot hard pavement.
