Firstly, the tour round the mansion was excellent. A really knowledgeable and pleasant lady helped make the most of what is a relatively modest property with her descriptions of its interesting history. The sub tropical gardens and sculpture exhibition is worth a miss as the gardens were dark and neglected especially at £6 a head. Avoid.

Seemed to be a lot here from the adverts so went on Saturday morning to add the farmers and craft market. What a disappointment! 2 stalls selling bric a brac, no train, largely overgrown and in need of tlc. Sculptures ok small tea shop open and coppersmith ok but all displays covered in dust. It’s free so can’t complain at that but honesty boxes around with recommended payments. Ok if you want to stroll around a small garden and have a cup of tea- can only put it down to end of season.

Having planned a long walk to end here with a visit to the tearoom, we were disappointed to find it shut with no explanation. There is a small gift shop but none of the other attractions seemed to be open and little else to see or do other than admire the house from the outside and look at the duck pond and fountain.

We went to Sausmarez Manor for the sculpture and the garden which did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling along the shady path enjoying the varied works of art.
But the Manor had something for everyone. The tea room has a wide variety of drinks and food and there are tours around the Manor House ( which we did not take due to our time constraints). The children were loving feeding the ducks with food bought in the shop. And the extensive playground comes complete with a small gauge railway and friendly train driver
It really is a great place with something for everyone and worth a visit.

We spent a very pleasant 2 to 3 hours here and thought that it was well worth the trip. We didn't go inside the house but toured the gardens and sculpture park and had a bite in the cafe. The tropical garden with all of the artworks found on the way around captured our interest as did the(live) tortoise that we bumped into on the way.
Coffee and cakes in the cafe were good

A bit ramshackled and disorganised really. Gardens poorly maintained. Seemed like the lords of the manor had an idea to make a bit of money on the side but had given up (COVID?). I suggest that you put your money in the honesty box for the sub-tropical garden on the way out - then you will know if its worth it.

A very interesting house tour by Irene, something different to see in each room, stories about several members of the family, house feels like a home and took about an hour to go around. Tours are only on certain days.
Nice tea room, gardens and workshop with a chap making copper items. Everybody very friendly and worth a stop.

We wandered in out of season. Everything was very relaxed and there was an honesty box for entrance to the subtropical garden and sculpture park. There was a track to follow and, as others have said, overgrown in parts, but this added to its attraction for us. In season, there was more to do - childrens' play area, small railway, tea room,
There were nice places to sit and relax.

We really enjoyed a morning walk around the sculpture garden. As mentioned by some other visitors, the garden was overgrown in parts, but for us, that added to the appeal, making the tour around the sculptures feel a bit of an adventure, with us not seeing some of the statues until we got close to them.
The scupltures had an ecclectic mix, with variation in size, style and design, and displayed in various ways around the gardens.
There was an honesty box system for paying an entrance fee. Given we didn't see any other visitors whilst we were there, it seemed reasonable that there were no staff on hand.
The car park was a bit quirky, we weren't sure at first if we had found the car park or just a bit of disused land, but it worked fine for us.

Hello, I think this post should be on the Saumarez Park page and not Saumarez Manor, the two places are different and you are describing Saumarez Park.

Dear Visitor,
You are quite right it is not Sausmarez Manor that was being described but it was Saumarez Park. I have tried to notify Trip Advisor but it seems to be impossible to get to them. Where it says send a message it immediately turns into an offer of a cheap stay somewhere.
I am not sure what to about this. I have tried on a previous occasion to get another which was a good review about this manor here but posted on a a similar named manor in Jersey called Samares Manor in Sept 2017 .
I doubt if this will be noticed by them but I can only try.

We eventually found the entrance to the grounds having followed directions as a short detour from a walk we were on. Disappointed to find a sign at the car park entrance detailing No Dogs. We walk everywhere with our dogs keeping them under control on a lead and always clean up after them. Thought we would have been able to take them in and around the grounds to see the sculptures etc. But alas Not. Any particular reason why dogs not allowed? Thanks

We didn't bother doing the tour because the whole place was rather disappointing to be honest. Worth a walk and the picnic. I think the tour was £7.50 per adult. Suggest you look at website. Regards
Please can someone tell me if it is ok to swim in the Moray Firth at Adversier? I want to go in July n ext year and stay near the beach. However I don't have any idea if it is safe to swim there. I would appreciate your comments. Would Nairm be a better place to stay??
