Medium walk from Exmouth to Orcombe point with some steep slopes. You are rewarded with some outstanding views at the geoneedle at Orcombe cliff top.

i set off for Orcombe Point to see the Geoneedle and was not disappointed, hard walk for the older person but arriving at sunset was truly amazing.

I got the train to Exmouth to get out of the house and study somewhere scenic. After a while I decided to walk towards the lifeboat station and just kept going until the path terminated. It does not take long to walk up the hill, although it is quite narrow (and muddy on this occasion). It was a very nice quick walk and worth it for the views once at the monument.

Beautiful views augmented by the info boards describing the Jurassic Coast. Fascinating red cliffs with tree roots from previous millennia! And great coffee shops!

The Globe Inn is a perfect pub where the staff are so friendly and take an interest. The beer is top quality and not top price! It is a lovely place to sit, the original decor set off beautifully by Ray, the new landlord.

We started at Lympstone and walked to Exmouth. Not realising there was an alternative we used the cycle path so it was a very easy route with our young granddaughters, though the number of cycles made it a little hazardous at times. Coming back we realised there was also a footpath almost parallel. No cycles on this but it is rather narrow so not so good if you are in a group. Lovely views of the estuary along the route. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was almost 3 miles from Lympstone to the the ferry terminal in Exmouth, from where we got a ferry to Dawlish Warren.

Great cycle route that extends beyond Lympstone all the way round to Dawlish. Plenty of cop out options if you have been over confident or perhaps a little too enthusiastic sampling the several fantastic pubs on the route - ferries from Starcross, Turf Hotel, Topsham. Train from Dawlish, Starcross, Exeter, Topsham.
But mainly, I want to correct the impression given by many reviews that there is only one (or two) pubs in Lympstone - in fact there are four (five if you count a Toby Inn just outside) - The Redwing, 100 yards off the route just go under the railway bridge by the station and follow the road, and The Saddlers, maybe 1/3 mile in the same direction - both well worth a visit.

The walk takes about 45 minutes, thats taking it easy and yes you could take a pram. As you get to the end of the walk nearest exmouth you need to take the left hand path, closest to the sea as this is wider and not so steep. You could also catch the bus from the holiday park to return if you only wanted to walk one way. Hope this helps. Carol.
