Famous pottery as Weymms ware produced here. Very collectable pieces, including pottery cats and pigs in bold designs. Lovely shop, good video presentation of how pottery is made and a very beautiful location in a small Fife village.

Every time we go to golf in St Andrews we go to Griselda Hill (Wemyss Pottery) to buy a cat. They have these small hand painted 2" high cats that we have collected for years. Lots of other very interesting stuff that makes it well worth the visit.

Interesting shop and great museum at the back. Loved the video telling tbe story behind the pottery. Sadly there was nobody working the day we visited but you could still look through to the workrooms.

Enjoyed browsing the Wemyss pottery on a chilly December day. Came specifically for the Earshall design as I love all things early 20th century. Asked if a piece could be made in time for my birthday six weeks away: picked it up on the day itself - I realised afterwards that I think it was handed to me by the lady who painted it. Lovely to know that it had been painted just for me (thank you!). Ceres itself is a very interesting little place, so there's more than just the pottery once you are there.

Had a drive out to the lovely little picturesque village of Ceres this afternoon and decided to pay a visit here.
The shop has some lovely 'Wemyss Ware' pottery for sale, their most popular lines being cats and pigs although they do make a wide variety of other pieces too, including limited editions. It doesn't stop there - you can have personalised pieces made, and even the Queen has had two vases!
The lady in the shop opened up the visitors centre specially for me, and put on a DVD which was most interesting showing the different stages of production. If you are lucky then you may even be able to see the potters and painters at work during your visit.
I found this to be fascinating, and if you are even a little interested in pottery I would certainly recommend a visit.
The pottery is not cheap to buy but when you see how much time and work goes in to each piece then this gives an individual a better understanding of how their pricing comes about.
Their current opening hours are 2pm until 4:30pm Monday through to Saturday.

We discovered this place by chance when we saw a road sign for Wemyss Ware, a very well known, and old, Scottish hand painted pottery. Wemyss Ware has been in existence since 1882. Pieces are found in the collections of royalty and other well known people. The shop is not large and is open only a few hours each afternoon. They advertise that visitors can watch a painter at work on weekdays, though there was no one there when we visited on a Tuesday. A video of the Wemyss' story can be seen.

Lovely shop with only goods made on the premises on sale full of history and lovely to watch the potters at working making the excellent quality goods and decorating them by hand. Special orders can be done and the quality is second to none

We had to google where the potter is made now and so glad we made the effort to visit, the gentleman who was there on Saturday was very helpful and although the pottery was made we were allowed to go and see where it is made and watch a fascinating video about Wemyss pottery, on returning to the shop we purchased a Wemyss pig and jug in typical Wemyss design. Loved my visit ther.

I have to admit, our last name is Wemyss. Of course we had heard about Wemyss pottery years ago, and really wanted to check it out. Wemyss pottery is famous in Scotland. Those who collect it are Elton John, Prince Charles and the late Queen Mother. It is quite pricey, but an investment.
The little town of Culpar is quaint and very Scottish, about 45 minute drive from Edinburgh. Excellent photo ops for rolling hills and landscape. The Pottery store is on a steep hill, but there is parking out front. You can visit the store, and view pottery being made. Unfortunately, we were there on a Sunday, and the viewing area was closed, but we were still able to enter the visitor centre to learn more about Wemyss Pottery.
Lots of things to choose from. We bought a little cat, and a tea towel. Sales girl was quite nice, and when she noticed our last name, gave us lots of info on the history of Wemyss Pottery. Lots of places to eat in the village. If you want the true Scottish experience visit here.

There seems to be some misunderstanding among those who have visited this delightful place. They are not pretending to sell old Wemyss ware. What they produce is new pottery to traditional Wemyss designs. The methods and materials are traditional. The prices reflect that everything is hand crafted and hand painted. This doesn't come cheap. Everybody i have met there is charming and helpful. Their mail-order service is excellent too. With its gorgeous setting a visit on a sunny day (I was lucky!) is a delight. This was my second visit. I also visited in June 2013
